To Readers, Friends and Bloggers

This is the post none of us ever want to have to write. Our son, in his mid-30s, has been diagnosed with two cancers, advanced and serious. We will leave for an out-of-state cancer specialty hospital within the next few days, if possible. If not within the next few days, as soon as he receives word that he will be admitted.

To my readers, thank you for your loyalty, your wonderful and insightful comments, your expressions of appreciation. Bloggers are nothing without readers.

Bloggers, if I unsubscribe from your newsletter, know that I’m trying to manage my life more efficiently at this time, not to mention unburden my 2nd Generation iPad. When I return I’ll re-subscribe. Please do not be offended. It’s not personal.

Our son has never brought us anything but the greatest joy. He is our miracle. He is kind, caring, smart, funny and talented. He began working when he was 16 and has never stopped. He graduated with two degrees and moved to Los Angles to pursue a dream he had since a young boy. He always knew what he wanted to do. Once in LA, he took on an additonal school loan for more specialized schooling in his industry, and he is still paying on it. He has been committed, never discouraged, and he never diverted from his goal. He has had opportunities for field-related jobs that would have paid him extremely well for his age, but would also take him away from his goal. He stayed broke for a very long time, but woke up happy everyday. He never complained. He still never complains. He worked hard and that devotion yielded two big, well-earned breaks over the past four years. His years-long goal would have started for him on June 24th, 2014. He has done nothing to bring his illness on himself. He has never smoked, has only an occasional beer or glass of wine, and has been married to a wonderful young woman for 2-1/2 months.

Our hearts are broken, but we are ready for a fierce fight, and we plan to win.

We believe in the power of prayer. If you have room on your prayer list for us, we will be forever grateful.

Thank you DJ♥ who sent the scripture, and to our family and friends who are so caring, loving, and most of all, prayerful.

Miracles happen when there’s no hope in sight. When the last doctor says we don’t have any more answers, then it’s time for a miracle. When WE can’t see a solution, all rules are changed. The impossible happens and a resolution we thought could not exist is revealed. There is no such thing a “a medical miracle”. There are only “God miracles”. Trust with faith, pray with expectancy, and seek His will. God likes to provide answers when no one else can claim credit, so these are often “last minute” solutions. God bless you and your family through this difficult journey.

  • Bunkerville

Prayers go out to you and your son. So so sorry to hear this.

  • Show-Me Mom

Maggie, it seems that the more we search for the “whys” and “how did this happen” the more answers elude us. I was diagnosed with lung cancer without ever taking up the habit. A week or two after lung surgery, I get a call that our 33-year-old son has just been diagnosed with colon cancer, and there is no way my husband and I can travel the 700 plus miles to be with him during surgery. He could not take the chemo, even though doctors pleaded with him to stick it out. He instead went on a vigorous search for the right supplements and lifestyle to beat it. It has been five years this summer, and so far both my son and I remain cancer free. We just take one day at a time, but I will say that God has been our strength and our hope. We had very good doctors, thanks to our Blessed Lord. Hang in there. You and your son are in our prayers.

  • So sorry to hear it. Godspeed to your son, and may he fight this evil disease until it is in remission.

  • trailbee

My prayers to you and your son and entire family. I am the nosy type – wondering what wondrous joys and exquisite little gems your entire family will experience. Hopefully, one day you can share with us. Until then, blessings.

  • Michael Hale

Dear Maggie, prayers do work. My wife was diagnosed with ovarian cancer 7 years ago and the doctor said it would be very difficult to succeed. He has called her his miracle patient ever since. We know that it was the hand of God that helped us and that prayer was so important. Like your son, she didn’t smoke or drink and had taught little kids Sunday school for 23 years. Those little prayers added up to success and we will pray for your son.

  • Earl Sullivan

So sad to hear about this I hope he beats both cancers and know that my family’s thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time in your life and know that the Lord will be watching out for you as well. Lets hope he answers your prayers and helps your son beat this dreadful disease.

  • Bob Mack

Here’s hoping for a full and rapid recovery. Best wishes to you & your family, Maggie.

Remember always Jehovah Rapha, “The G-d that heals!” He will be in my prayers and his wife and you and all your family. G-d bless you all. He will make it! I believe it.

“Then Moses led Israel from the Red Sea and they went into the Desert of
Shur. For three days they traveled in the desert without finding water.
When they came to Marah, they could not drink its water because it was
bitter. (That is why the place is called Marah.) So the people grumbled
against Moses, saying, ‘What are we to drink?’ Then Moses cried out to
the LORD, and the LORD showed him a piece of wood. He threw it into the
water, and the water became sweet. There the LORD made a decree and a
law for them, and there he tested them. He said, ‘If you listen
carefully to the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in his
eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I
will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians,
for I am the LORD, who heals you.” Exodus 15: 22-26 (NIV)

  • Nobody Special

Maggie this is the first time I’ve ever commented on your blog, but I do read your blog. Please know that your son, his wife and your entire family will be in my prayers.

There is a tough road ahead of you, just remember to take each day one at a time. There will be some days you have to take hour by hour. I’m the mother of a cancer survivor myself, I speak from experience. The whole one day at a time thing sounds simple but it’s really hard to do, it’s not in our nature.

One of the best pieces of advice I can give you is to find an online support group for the specific cancer your son has. You will find LOTS of practical, hands on advice there. I am more than happy to share general advice on things like how best to avoid mouth sores, etc.

I am devastated by this news dear Maggie. Your heart is strong for your son and your faith unwavering. May The Lord keep you and comfort and give your son the armor of God. For if God be for him nothing can be against him.

I will pray constantly for his speedy recovery, for the strength needed to fight this battle and the faith to believe that this too shall pass.

God bless you my friend. My thoughts will be with through this journey. Give your son a big hug from all of us.

Maggie – do your boy a favor, and look into the Gerson Therapy. Best if you call them now ( and see how fast to get your son under their 3-week care. You will NOT be disappointed. There is no other way; Conventional medicine will have you believe they can “treat” him, but they cannot. He has a very GOOD chance to be CURED (not simply “treated”) if you heed my humble suggestion.

  • Larry Sheldon

    I’m sorry. Prayers offered.

    Dear Maggie,
I will pray to the Almighty for a refuah shlemiah, a complete and total recovery for your son and for strength for you and your family during this ordeal. And I will also alert your friends, the Watcher’s Council to join me . ‘Thoughts and prayers’ has become a bit of a cliche, but you know you have mine, and those of many others.

  • Dear Maggie..
I am praying that God will be with your son and your family.
That he would walk you through this fire.
That he would encompass you with peace.

May the spirit of God carry all of you and give you streams in this desert.
    I love you,
