I’m wading my way through the new documents on Benghazi released by Judicial Watch and found an shocking tweet by CNN freelancer Jomana Karadsheh. The tweet was forwarded to Ambassador Susan Rice on September 11, 2012 at 6:17 p.m. U.S. time, which would be 1 a.m. or 2 a.m. in Benghazi on September 12, 2012. The screen grab from the .pdf shows that the tweet is time-stamped “27m” meaning it was grabbed for embed 27 minutes after it was tweeted. At that time, the body of Ambassador Stevens was still missing. The significance: Rice directly received a heads-up, whether she believed it or not, that Ansar al-Sharia was attacking our compound before the attack was over, yet went on the Sunday news shows and blamed street rabble-rousers, upset about a little-seen anti-Islam video with no mention of Jomana Karadsheh’s information. Remember that it took U.S. officials three weeks to get to Benghazi to “investigate” the compound, while CNN had someone in inside the burned-out facility in only a couple of days. CNN left with Steven’s diary.

Got off phone to someone near the scene #Benghazi – clashes ongoing between Ansar al-Sharia & security forces at #US consulate. #Libya
At the time, the sender of the email, Alex McPhillips, was connected to the United Nations. I can’t find an exact title for him, but in December 2010 he was the “Press Officer at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations.
If Susan Rice brought Ansar al-Sharia into the public eye as a possibility, I can’t find it, although we did hear the claim in news reports, but without someone in the White House, State Department or CIA lending credence to it, it was nothing more than a rumor.
Oddly, on January 10, 2014, the House Committee on Foreign Affairs reported that the U.S. State Department designated Ansar al-Sharia as a foreign terrorist organization and confirmed that the group was “involved” in the September 11, 2012 attacks that killed Stevens, Sean Smith, Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty — January 10, 2014!
Note: After the initial attack on the Benghazi Special Mission Compound, the State Department Operations Center alerted senior Department officials, other agencies, and the White House that Ansar al-Sharia had claimed responsibility on Facebook and Twitter for the attack. On November 27, 2012, then-United Nations Ambassador Susan Rice stated that, in fact, the talking points provided by the intelligence community, which formed the basis for her public comments on the Sunday talk shows of September 11, 2012, were “incorrect in a key respect: there was no protest or demonstration in Benghazi.” Source: Foreign Affairs
Just three months earlier, Ansar al-Sharia displayed a 200-pickup truck convoy in the town of Benghazi. Wikipedia quoted the Libya Herald saying residents were shocked at the weaponry displayed. I can’t link that for you as I’m not a subscriber. The group was also involved in several deadly incidents that summer.
What we didn’t know, or at least what I didn’t know, was that Susan Rice received a credible report saying Ansar al-Sharia was at the compound, and she received it before the attack was over.
If today, you think the Oval Office was not involved, and if you think there were no attempts to protect Obama’s unpresidential, unAmerican, sorry presidency, then you must bear the weight of the demise of this country on your shoulders along with others just like you.
