Dianne Feinstein: CIA Hacked Into Senate Committee Computers: Darrell Issa Says It Might Be Treason

There’s a strong possibility that a 5th grader could hack into any committee or office on Capitol Hill, but moving on, Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) says the CIA hacked the computers of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) says if true, someone may have committed “treason.” I doubt anyone in Congress knows what “treason” means today or the word would have become public long before now.

UPDATE 3/13/14 10:14 am CDT: Yos at Si Vis Pacem pointed me to more on this story. The bottom line may be that the files were CIA files and a CIA network that Feinstein’s Select Committee was allowed to access. Read more here and the original source here.

Back to the Issa story:

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Chairman of the Senate Select Intelligence Committee, Tuesday accused the spy agency of secretly examining her committee’s computers and taking documents relating to the CIA’s interrogation methods on terror suspects who were held overseas after the 9/11 attacks. Source: Breitbart

The New Yorker:

She may be about to get angrier. As it happened, John Brennan, the director of the C.I.A., was scheduled to appear at the Council on Foreign Relations soon after she spoke. Feinstein had described an “emergency meeting” where she was informed that “without prior notification or approval, C.I.A. personnel had conducted a search—that was John Brennan’s word,” of her staff’s computers. She said that she’d sent him letters with questions and had got no answers. At C.F.R., Andrea Mitchell, of NBC, asked Brennan about Feinstein’s complaints. “As far as the allegations of, you know, C.I.A. hacking into, you know, Senate computers, nothing could be further from the truth,” Brennan replied. “We wouldn’t do that. I mean that’s, that’s, that’s—just beyond the scope of reason.”

“She says that there are potentially illegal and unconstitutional breaches by the C.I.A.,” Mitchell said.

Brennan didn’t suppress a small, wry snort. The appropriate authorities were “looking at what C.I.A. officers, as well as S.S.C.I. staff members, did,” he said, thereby suggesting that the Senate might have broken the law. Brennan:

And, you know, when the facts come out on this, I think a lot of people who are claiming that there has been this tremendous sort of spying and monitoring and hacking will be proved wrong.“A lot of people”—that includes Dianne Feinstein. So we have a senator and the head of the C.I.A. more or less calling each other liars.

Not enough words to express the arrogance of this entire administration. At this particular point, I hope Issa will not take this up unless we pursue impeachment pronto, including impeachment of Eric Holder. Issa and his Oversight Committee can only investigate so much, especially when we can’t seem to get appropriate Select Committee investigations. We must continue with IRS targeting, Benghazi and Fast and Furious (if Fast and Furious is still under investigation). First things first. We need NOTHING diluting what he already has on his plate unless it’s impeachment.

Hey Liberty Belle, Glenn has an interesting note from a spook. DiFi may be in a bit of trouble.

I would think it would be a crime for which people would go to jail but not treason. Now if it was totally political the reasons might just add to the crime and involve more people then if it were a simple hack. But the game changer could be the reason it was done. If for example one of our many liberal/socialist pro-communist legislators was engaging in spying, aiding the enemy or other anti-American activity then hacking the computer to acquire evidence may be exactly the opposite of treason. Our congressmen on the left have a long history of subverting America and giving our enemies aid and government secrets. It will be intereting to see how this plays out.

Speaking of the CIA monitoring our government does Maggies Notebook have any comment on the latest revelation that the CIA surreptitiously
took a sample of Obama’s DNA and discovered he is not related to his “mother” or her parents? And further that he was born a year earlier then claimed in Mombasa Kenya to one of his fathers many girlfriends.

Treason? I’m not sure it’s treason, but it’s certainly against the Law and against the U.S. Constitution.

The CIA by Law is prohibited from “any domestic” surveillance. The hubris and gall of DiWiFi is amusing, she should’ve gotten at least half as mad when the Director of Homeland Security committed perjury before her committee and Congress or when the revelations of the “Data” collection of U.S. Citizens which is in violation of the Law and Constitution.

So DiWiFi, welcome to our world and this lawless administration which comes from your political party. What the hell are you going to do about it now? Your selective outrage sucks!
