I do like Saturday Night Live (SNL) and I’m usually watching it on Saturday night. To get it on the record right now, I hated the ‘John Boehner,'(but I ♥ Taran – so talented) and ‘Michele Bachmann’ skit, a lewd, ugly mess, it was. There are skits I hate, but the last two years, the show has been fresher; there have been some gems, and many I think senseless and/or boring. I’m not 23. Overall, Jonah Hill hosting was one the more lackluster shows, but I loved one of the taped shorts, The Hit. See it below. Obama is better known now. He’s not as adored as he was early-on, at least during the show, and Jay Pharoah has improved immensely in his impression of BO. Lorne Michaels, creator and producer, clearly gets the political climate today:
“Nothing we do in politics tends to be shocking anymore. There’s not the gasp of seeing the President made fun of, because the President is on TV all the time — he does daytime, he does late night. Some of the majesty is gone,” he said.
“Democrats tend to take it personally; Republicans think it’s funny. “Republicans are easier for us than Democrats ~ Lorne Michaels
Kate McKinnon and Vanessa Bayer are two of the best. Nasim Pedrah’s Ariana Huffington is spot-on and hilarious. Love Bobby Moynihan’s Drunk Uncle and most everything he does when the writings smart. Kenan Thompson is a joy to watch. Bet he’s the nicest guy in the world. Taran Killam is so talented. He belongs on broadway. I can’t imagine the News Desk without Seth Meyers and I won’t stay up to watch. I’m in mourning. I think Seth and Kenan might tie for the nicest guys in the world. A message to wardrobe: change Cecily Strong’s news desk garb. The black and white isn’t working, and leaning forward (what to make her look powerful, as a female anchor MUST be?) makes her look huge. She’s beautiful. Fix it.
“The Hit” features Kenan Thompson, Taran Killam and Jay Pharoah. I love it. It’s right up there with last season’s Sad Mouse with Bruno Mars, second video below.
