UPDATE: I incorrectly identified Debo Adegbile as also Wesley Cook. He was not born Wesley Cook. My apologies! In the considerable conversations about Debo Adegbile’s appointment to head the DOJ Civil Rights Division, I see little about his current position as Senior Counsel to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee. Committee Chair Patrick Leahy loves this guy. He’s just the greatest. And he’s been hanging around the U.S. Senate. Adegbile is considered an expert on Voter’s Rights, theirs, not yours. He will not be advocating for Voter I.D.laws. As an attorney for the NAACP, he defended against Mumia Abu-Jamas’s death penalty sentence, originally upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court, and won. The killer’s death row sentenced was reduced to life in prison without patrol. Jamal is a former member of the now defunct Black Panthers, today replaced by the New Black Panther Party. He was convicted of murder in 1982.
According to Fitzpatrick, “[Abu-Jamal's] attorneys … attended a rally in Philadelphia and said that they could not have been prouder than to have had the opportunity not to represent justice, not to fight for the Constitution, but to represent Mumia Abu-Jamal.”…
“He filed a brief in the Supreme Court in a case in which he said it was okay for universities to discriminate against white students because of their race in college admissions and said employers should not be able to do criminal background checks.” Source: Fox News
The death of Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner:
“The question of Abu-Jamal’s guilt is not a close call,” according to John Fund. “Two hospital workers testified that Abu-Jamal confessed to them: ‘I shot the motherf***er, and I hope the motherf***er dies.’ His brother, William, has never testified to his brother’s innocence even though he was at the scene of the crime. Abu-Jamal himself chose not to testify in his own defense.”
As Faulkner tried to arrest Abu-Jamal’s brother during a traffic stop, Abu-Jamal shot the policeman once in the back and then stood over him and shot him four more times at close range, once directly in the face. Multiple eyewitnesses were present during the crime. Source: Front Page Magazine

Someone has to defend murderers. Debo Adegbile did so vigorously, but beyond that, the real problem is that he will fight from the highest perch in Washington, D.C. to keep this country from assuring ‘one person, one vote’ is the law of the land. It makes total sense that Adegbile has been senior counsel for the Democrat-controlled Senate Judiciary Committee.
