Christmas Tree December 8, 2013, Tori From Canada: Casting Crowns – I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day

Tori from Canada sent this photo of her beautiful Christmas tree with snowflakes, angels and beaded garland with a display around it. It is my Christmas Tree of the Day today. Below the video is information on how your tree can also be my Tree of the Day. The lyrics and melody of I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day by Casting Crowns is not the standard we know so well. It features a vocal, I believe by Mark Hall, and a children’s choir with orchestra. If it doesn’t give you goosebump, I’ll be surprised. This will be a new favorite in my music library. It has been out since at least 2008 but this is my first time to hear it. Don’t know where I’ve been.

I heard the bells on Christmas day
Their old familiar carols play
And mild and sweet their songs repeat
Of peace on earth good will to men

And the bells are ringing
In my heart I hear them
Like a choir singing
Peace on earth, good will to men

And in despair I bowed my head
There is no peace on earth I said
For hate is strong and mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good will to men

But the bells are ringing
Like a choir singing
Does anybody hear them?
Peace on earth, good will to men

Then rang the bells more loud and deep
God is not dead, nor doth He sleep
The wrong shall fail, the right prevail
With peace on earth, good will to men

Then ringing singing on its way
The world revolved from night to day
A voice, a chime, a chant sublime
Of peace on earth, good will to men

And the bells they’re ringing
Like a choir they’re singing
And in our hearts we’ll hear them
Peace on earth, good will to men

Do you hear the bells, they’re ringing?
The life the angels singing
Open up your heart and hear them
Peace on earth, good will to men

Peace on earth, Peace on earth
Peace on earth, Good will to men

Take a photo of your tree and email it to me (find my email address under the ‘Contact’ tab above). I would love to post it assuming you aren’t a troll who might place a Chairman Mao ornament on your unsuspecting tree (as did the White House on Obama’s first Christmas in the White House), or something equally egregious. I reserve the right to pick and choose based solely on the idea of a tree in the spirit of Christmas, not Satan, atheism or other progressive agendas. I’ll identify your tree and link in any way you prefer, or not i.d., it’s your choice.
