Mohamed Elibiary Tweets: America is the One Islamic Country Where Non-Muslims Are Treated Equally

Mohamed Elibiary is a Department of Homeland Security National Security Adviser who did or is serving on the Countering Violent Extremism Working Group. He has been “promoted” to “Sr. Fellow.” He is a vigorous supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood and Mohamed Morsi and Tweets much of every day while receiving a taxpayer-paid salary. In a Twitter thread he was asked to provide the name of one Islamic country that treats non-Muslims with “equality.” His answer was “America.”

Mohamed Elibiary

In September 2013, Mohamed Elibiary was promoted to “Sr. Fellow position @DHSgov.” What is a Homeland Security “Sr. Fellow?” It’s not this.

Here’s the rest of the story:

During the 2012 presidential campaigns, Elibiary allegedly downloaded confidential information on Governor Rick Perry to his personal computer in Texas and tried to shop it to the press. The information came from the Texas State and Local Intelligence Community database.

Congressman Louis Gohmert (R-TX) said the illegal access was confirmed by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The first time Gohmert grilled Janet Napolitano about it she said she would look into it. If she did, she didn’t get back to Gohmert so he called her up to the House a second time. She claimed it did not happen.

Napolitano essentially called Gohmert anti-Islamic, and said he “offended” her. He asked her if she knew Elibiary tried to get tax exempt status for his Freedom and Justice Foundation (and failed) and was she aware of the Muslim Brotherhood’s political wing in Egypt, the Freedom and Justice Party. Read that story here and more here.

As it turns out, after this story broke in October, it was found that Elibiary is the only member of the Committee, out of 26, to have access to this database. He is not an official of any state or law enforcement group…

As an aside, he reportedly threatened a Dallas reporter and said: Treat people as inferiors and you can expect someone to put a banana in your exhaust pipe or somethingMore here (and click the word “said” two lines above).

Patrick poole writing at PJ Media:

“Earlier today, I received confirmation from a left-leaning media outlet that Elibiary had recently approached them asking to do a story attacking Texas DPS:”

Yes, he approached us and gave us some reports marked FOUO [For Official Use Only] that he said showed a pattern of Islamophobia at the department. He emphasized that some of the regional fusion centers were shut down a few years ago after the ACLU complained that they were targeting Muslim civil rights groups and said that this was being directed by [Texas Gov.] Rick Perry…

In light of these allegations, I spoke today with Texas DPS Director Steve McCraw. He confirmed that Elibiary has access to the Homeland Security State and Local Intelligence Community of Interest (HS SLIC) database, which contains hundreds of thousands of intelligence reports and products that are intended for intelligence sharing between law enforcement agencies.

“We looked at the reports and they weren’t as he had billed them to us. They seem to be pretty straightforward, nothing remotely resembling Islamophobia that we saw. I think he was hoping we would bite and not give it too much of a look in light of the other media outfits jumping on the Islamophobia bandwagon.”

So, while the “left-leaning media outlet” refused to do the story, they did open the envelope and read the sensitive data from a secure database.

Here’s a snippet of one of Gohmert’s exchanges with Napolitano:

Since you seem a little fuzzy on Elibiary, let me make sure you leave here understanding, he was a featured speaker at the Great Islamic Visionary Ayatollah Khomeini, December 11, 2004. You had him on your Countering Violent Extremism Working Group. You promoted him, and from your own website, you swore him in. According to your testimony today, that’s where he got the security clearance.

He has written glowingly of Kutbe* of whom Osama bin Laden relied heavily on for his barbarism justification. He has written against the trial and conviction of the Holy Land Foundation’s funding of terrorism. He has still remained in the DHS Advisory Council. And now he has accessed, a week ago the State and Local Community database. He took documents that said for Official Use Only and shopped them with national media.

[*Kutbe, I believe is an Islamic sect or ideology, named after Sayyadi Kutbe, but I’m not certain. Whatever it is, I may not be spelling it correctly.]

Earlier today, I received confirmation from a left-leaning media outlet that Elibiary had recently approached them asking to do a story attacking Texas DPS:

Yes, he approached us and gave us some reports marked FOUO [For Official Use Only] that he said showed a pattern of Islamophobia at the department. He emphasized that some of the regional fusion centers were shut down a few years ago after the ACLU complained that they were targeting Muslim civil rights groups and said that this was being directed by [Texas Gov.] Rick Perry.

We looked at the reports and they weren’t as he had billed them to us. They seem to be pretty straightforward, nothing remotely resembling Islamophobia that we saw. I think he was hoping we would bite and not give it too much of a look in light of the other media outfits jumping on the Islamophobia bandwagon.

Poole asked if there was any sense of his possible motivation:

Oh, self-promotion definitely. It was clear up front that he wanted to be a quoted source in the story. We’ve used him as an unnamed source in previous stories. There’s nothing unusual or unseemly about that because officials do it all the time, but this was the first time he approached us with documents. Honestly, if they had been what he represented them as we would have probably run with the story. But we looked at them and saw this was a partisan hatchet job that could blow back on us so we passed on it.

In November 2011, Robert Spencer at JihadWatch reported that Elibiary had his security clearance revoked. In July 2013, Elibiary called Spencer an “Islamophobe Joker.”

Today, Mohamed Elibiary does not have a DHS security clearance? Hard to believe. Read an interview with Elibiary by Ryan Mauro, A Window on the Muslim Brotherhood in America and Mauro’s comments at his blog, The Counter Jihad Report.
