Sen. Marco Rubio is dancing as fast as he can to get out of the Gang of 8 immigration mess he helped to create. Now he says he supports Senators Mike Lee (R-UT) and Jeff Sessions (R-AL) support of the House “piecemeal” legislation approach. Notice Rubio did not say he supported Ted Cruz who led the fight and now will complicate Rubio’s presidential run. Rep. Mike McCaul (R-TX) is doing the heavy lifting, saying a Senate Conference Committee on the Gang of 8 immigration bill is a “political trap.” McCaul reportedly told Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) that he must publicly announce that the House will not cooperate with a Senate Conference committee. McCaul further told Laura Ingraham he turned down an invitation to meet with Obama and Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) at the White House on illegal aliens. But friends, look at Rep. Paul Ryan’s position.
“We’re not going to conference with the senate period.” ~ Rep. Mike McCaul
Boehner, House Budget Committee chairman Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Majority Leader Eric Cantor have publicly left the door open to conference, with Ryan actually publicly advocating for one. “A lot of people are saying, just pass the Senate bill,” Ryan said in July. “That’s not what the House is going to do. I think we can make it better.” Source: Breitbart
The House “piecemeal” legislative approach is a series of small bills bringing about change to deal with 12 million illegals – supposedly one calling for border security first.
While the “small bill” approach is underway, Republican Congressmen John Carter and Sam Johnson, both from Texas, walked away from other efforts to draft “comprehensive legislation,” or one big bill to solve 12 million problems.
