Democrat Bill de Blasio, running for New York City mayor, and Joe Lhota, the Republican ” “moderate” in the race, have both vowed to add two Muslim holidays to New York City schools. Now the Chinese want school dismissed for Chinese New Year. New York City Muslims think de Blasio is swell, and are promising to get out the vote for him. He has promised they will no longer have to live in fear, promised to fire Police Chief Ray Kelly and end the surveillance Muslims believe targets them. He promises no surveillance until after “careful vetting” is processed.
Bill De Blasio has also promised to incorporate two Muslim holidays in the New York City public school system. His embrace of Islam as an emerging political force was highlighted in an extraordinary New York Times article about his controversial past and support for communist regimes in Nicaragua and Cuba.
The Times had previously been known for its unrelenting attacks on the New York City Police Department (NYPD) and Police Commissioner Kelly.
At stake in the mayoral contest is not just whether de Blasio’s Obama-style tax-and-spending policies could bankrupt the city, but whether another major terrorist attack will be allowed to occur because of left-wing pressure to discontinue aggressive police tactics and surveillance activities. De Blasio’s opponent on November 5 is moderate Republican Joe Lhota.
On stop-and-frisk, Mr. de Blasio argues his platform — support for two City Council bills, one banning racial profiling, the other creating an inspector general in the Police Department, combined with his vow to replace Raymond Kelly as commissioner — amounts to a stronger set of reforms than his rivals have espoused.
Outgoing Mayor Michael Bloomberg is against adding new days-off for students:
Outgoing mayor Michael Bloomberg opposes the idea. He has said that observing the holidays would take away from students’ education and open the door to similar requests from other religious and ethnic groups.
In 2009, the city council approved a measure that would have added the two holidays to the school calendar, but Bloomberg opposed it. A 2010 New York state measure, which could have forced the city to add the holidays, stalled in the legislature.
The city’s school district already observes Christian holidays like Good Friday and Christmas, as well as Rosh Hashana, the Jewish new year, and Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the year for Jewish people.Source America.Aljazeera
The obvious point left unsaid is that neither Jewish or Christian holy books call for the killing or submission of every person not of their faith – or to further spell it out, every person, meaning every person on the planet not a Muslim.
If we can get the current batch of reality-ignorant Republicans in Congress out of office, the question is, will new conservatives in Congress act courageously and lower the rates of Muslims coming into the country, in opposition to Obama’s increasing the rate? Maybe stop it cold might be a good idea.
