Cornelia Pillard Obama Nominee: “Abortion Frees Conscription Into Maternity” – Clinics Close at Record Rates

The powerful DC Court of Appeals needs a judge and Obama’s nominee Cornelia “Nina” Pillard says abortion saves women from “conscription into maternity.” In the meantime, more and more states are putting restrictions on abortion clinics. Message to the Left, this is what happens when you ignore that abortion is legal, keep, our children from parental guidance, and force us to pay for yours.  You and have degraded yourselves to the level of feral animals with your push for far-too-late-term abortions. We can also push.

State lawmakers passed the second-highest number of abortion restrictions ever this past year, with 19 states enacting 43 measures in 2012 that limited access to abortion services, according to the Guttmacher Institute. The record was set last year, when 24 states enacted 92 restrictions in 2011.

Guttmacher’s analysis comes as Time magazine reports in its cover story this week that pro-life supporters have been winning the battle against abortion since the United States Supreme Court handed down its Roe v. Wade ruling 40 years ago. Source: Gleanings

Obama’s nominee, Cornelia Pillard:

In a 2007 law review article, Pillard wrote that “[r]eproductive rights, including the rights to contraception and abortion, play a central role in freeing women from historically routine conscription into maternity” (emphasis added). She believes there is an “equal protection” right to abortion—a position never adopted by the United States Supreme Court.

In other words, she believes that women cannot be equal citizens unless they have an unlimited right to abortion, and rather than suggest that the Constitution be amended if her views win favor with the American people, she asserts that the Constitution already protects abortion by forbidding states to deny anyone the equal protection of the laws.

Given Pillard’s views on equal protection and abortion, she would likely find most laws enacted to protect unborn children and their mothers invalid, including such widely-supported measures as late-term abortion restrictions, parental involvement and informed consent requirements, and clinic regulations. Earlier this month Bloomberg reported that “at least 58 U.S. abortion clinics – almost 1 in 10 – have shut or stopped providing the procedure since 2011….” The state of Texas passed laws to enforce clinics be located within a certain number of miles from a hospital/clinic facility that can be accessed in the case of emergency.

The Left thinks it just dandy that a little boy be punished he eats his Pop-Tart into the shape of a gun (he said it was a mountain) but rage at laws providing for the safety of women undergoing an abortion procedure.
