Last night Delbert “Shorty” Belton, 89, was arriving
at the Eagles Lodge in Spokane, Washington to play pool. Mr. Belton survived wounds received in WWII in Okinawa, but succumbed this morning to the beating he received after being left for dead in the parking lot of the Lodge. According to the report linked below, the “suspects” are “African American between the ages of 16 and 19 years old: (see an arrest update below)
Spokane police are looking for two male suspects in the attack. They said the suspects are African Americans between 16 and 19 years old. One suspect was described as heavy set and wearing all black clothing. The other was described as being about 6 feet tall and 150 pounds. There was no description of what clothing the second suspect was wearing other than a silk do-rag. Source: KXLY

UPDATE 8-26-13: Two men were arrested separately in the death of Mr. Belton. The second arrest of 16-year-old Kenan Adams-Kinard happened on August 26, 2013. The only reason we know the juvenile’s name is because he was on the run and was a danger to the community. The first suspect arrested has not been identified, but sources say he will be charged as an adult.
Several other people with him have been arrested for rendering criminal assistance.
Last week, on 8/23 Spokane Police arrested the first of the suspects, a 16-year-old male, charged with 1st degree robbery and 1st degree murder. Source
