Sunday Worship Music: Amazing Grace by John Clarke on Acoustic Guitar

‘Amazing Grace’ is the one praise song so well known all over the world, so in-grained in our spiritual experience that we do not always require the lyrics to make our hearts sing along. The video below features John Clarke playing accoustic guitar with no vocal. I think it is particularly beautiful and hope you will take a few minutes to listen and feel the calming presence of His amazing grace.

Amazing grace
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I’m found
Was blind, but now I see
‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed
My chains are gone
I’ve been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy rains
Unending love, Amazing graceThe Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures[2x]
My chains are gone
I’ve been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy rains
Unending love, Amazing graceThe earth shall soon dissolve like snow
The sun forbear to shine
But God, Who called me here below
Will be forever mine
Will be forever mine
You are forever mine

How many times have some of your family or friends smiled wanly (sometimes with an eye roll, intimated or flat-out said the equivalent of “you are naive to be a Christian, to believe what you believe? It has happened to all of us and increasingly on television we endure the high-toned…not arguments, because atheists don’t argue, they state what they know to be fact, we have no proof, in a manner that usually renders us “naive” or worse.

In this week’s column at Carl Middleton’s GOD’S ANSWER is always Jesus, he talks about “intelligent design” and what part “chance” plays in our lives. Here’s a small snippet:

The average scientist does not believe in God. Science deals in provable facts unless there are none; then they use something called theory. A theory is anything they try to pass off as truth when there is no proof. Science calls it a supposition … what is supposed to be possible. In other words, a theory is a collection of unproven ideas.

Isaiah 1:18 … “Come now, and let us reason together saith the LORD …”

Read “Are Christians Naive?'”here. It’s a question that will never go away until the Messiah returns.
