I heard Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) on Fox News this morning saying the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates the new immigration bill will stop only 25 percent of illegals from flowing into the country. In other words 75 percent of the illegals crossing the border now will continue to cross our borders after Senator Marco Rubio’s (R-FL) amnesty happens.
The Senate immigration bill will be a major boost to the federal budget but does relatively little to clamp down on illegal immigration — cutting the future flow by only about 25 percent — according to the Congressional Budget Office analysis of the bill, released Tuesday afternoon…
“Other aspects of the bill would probably increase the number of unauthorized residents — in particular, people overstaying their visas issued under the new programs for temporary workers,” the agency said. “CBO estimates that, under the bill, the net annual flow of unauthorized residents would decrease by about 25 percent relative to what would occur under current law.”
That works out to about 1.6 million fewer people in the U.S. in 2023 than would otherwise come, and about 2.5 million fewer people by 2033.
About 7.7 million current illegal immigrants will have obtained legal status by 2018, the CBO said. Current estimates say there are about 11.5 million illegal immigrants in the U.S., but not all of them arrived early enough to qualify for the bill’s legalization and some others won’t seek legal status. In other bad news, Senator Rubio’s promise that illegals covered by the new immigration law can only receive a Green Card in ten years IF they show a record of employment, is not true. A reading of what the bill actually says is quite different, according to Dr. Betsey McCaughey:
“…you have to be employed over the next 10 years to get your Green Card UNLESS you are in college, you’re in High School, you’re getting a GED, you’re taking care of a child or an older person in your household or…you’re unemployed, but you don’t think it’s your fault.
In other words, you have to be employed…except if you’re not.
If you use social media, it’s important that you let Senator Rubio know your deep disappointment that a man in his position, a man we thought to be a shining hope for the future of conservatism – and let him know you will not forget the atrocities he is bringing down on the American people. Keep tweeting @MarcoRubio. If you have ‘liked’ his Facebook page, consider ‘unliking’ it. You can still comment, as others are doing heatedly. Another Facebook page here. Leave a strong message for him. Not only will illegals keep coming, but the consequences of this legislation will be permanent and costly. Lies, damned lies and statistics. More outrage here.
