No details other than a Tweet from Boston Police. Three more suspects in custody. SEE CLARIFYING UPDATES BELOW. Maybe the Saudis alerted us???
UPDATE 5/1/13 @ 1:19 pm CDT: The American arrested is identified as Robel Philipos.
UPDATE 5/1/13 @ 12:21 pm CDT: The original arrest of the two men from Kazakhstan (those shown in the Times Square photo with Dzhokhar, was by ICE, so these three are new arrests to Boston police.
UPDATE 5/1/13 @ 12:14 pm CDT: Megyn Kelly is reporting that the third unnamed suspect is an “American.” So was Dzhokhar. American in Name Only.
UPDATE 5/1/13 @ 12:03 pm CDT: Okay, according to the Boston Globe, two of those arrested today were the same two from Kazakhstan previously taken into custody, and shown in the photo in Times Square with Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. So we DO NOT have 5 in custody, we have three in custody, including one unnamed person:
The two men, Dias Kadyrbayev and Azamat Tazhayakov, came to America from the Central Asian nation to study at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth, where Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was also enrolled. The law enforcement official did not release the name of the third person arrested. Source: The Boston Globe
The Daily Caller said the arrests had to do with “making false statements and obstructing justice during the federal investigation” into the Boston Marathon bombings. Dia and Azamat were driving an vehicle with the license tag “Terrorista #1.”
Remember that police recently searched a land fill. It may be because they were looking for items that these men tried to hide, items belonging to Tamerlan or Dzhokhar – including a laptop computer. No info on whether anything was found in the land fill.
UPDATE 5/1/13 @ 11:01 am CDT: Fox is reporting that the two men already in custody and whomever was arrested today, may face charges of giving some kind of assistance to Tamerlan and Dzhokhar. Two of the men from Kazakhstan already in custody, and perhaps also three “additional” today, reportedly tried to help Dzhokhar Tsarnaev by removing evidence from his apartment, including at least one computer and then tried to get rid of it. If you take the Tweet as it is stated, five would now be in custody. I’ll update as info becomes available.
Three additional suspects taken into custody in Marathon bombing case. Details to follow.
