Sunday Worship Music: When God Dipped His Pen of Love in My Heart

I was looking for Allison Krause’s version of  When God Dipped His Pen of Love in my Heart (didn’t find it) but did find this one by the Peasall Sisters (first time I’ve heard their name). Sweet young voices singing an old gospel classic written by J. Aaron Brown. If your sensibilities are offended by banjo and bluegrass, run over to NiceDeb’s for Hail Redeemer King Divine.

Carl at GOD’S ANSWER is always Jesus is looking at the Son of God returning to his home town and the old neighborhood where he grew up. Quoting Luke:

“Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of Him through all the region round about.  He taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.  And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up …”

The main portion of Carl’s essay involves scripture from Matthew and Mark and how they both related Jesus’ return home. A few words from Mark, which I’ve read many times, stand out now, when they did not before. How and when could Jesus do “mighty works,” and is it possible that at times He could not? Read the discussion here.

Praying you, yours and I recognize the abundant blessings coming our way this week.

If you can find Allison Krause doing this song, you’ll be humming it for days.

When God Dips His Pen of Love In My Heart

When God dips His pen of love in my heart
And He writes my soul a message He wants me to know
His spirit all divine fills a sinful soul of mine
When God dips His love in my heartWell I said I wouldn’t tell it to a livin’ soul
How He brought salvation and He made me whole
But I found I couldn’t hide such a love as Jesus did impart
Well He made me laugh and He made me cry, set my sinful soul on fire
When God dips His love in my heartWell sometimes though the way is dreary, dark and cold
And some unburdened sorrow keeps me from the goal
I go to God in prayer, I can always find Him there
To whisper sweet peace to my soul

Well I said I wouldn’t tell it to a livin’ soul
How He brought salvation and He made me whole
But I found I couldn’t hide such a love as Jesus did impart
Well He made me laugh and He made me cry, set my sinful soul on fire
When God dips His love in my heart

He walked up every step of Calvary’s rugged way
And gave His life completely to bring a better day
My life was steeped in sin but in love He took me in
His blood washed away every stain

I said I wouldn’t tell it to a livin’ soul
How He brought salvation and He made me whole
But I found I couldn’t hide such a love as Jesus did impart
He made me laugh and He made me cry, set my sinful soul on fire
When God dips His love in my heart
