One Hearing After Less Than One Day to Read Gang of Eight Immigration Bill: Past Time for Repubs to Walk Away

If Senator Marco Rubio cannot convince Democrat Gang leader Senator Pat Leahy to give committee members at least a full 10 days to read and digest the immigration proposal before a hearing, then he isn’t worth his seat in the U.S. Senate, and certainly doesn’t deserve his position as the leader of conservative immigration reform. It’s time for Rubio to remove his name from the legislation, along with all other Republicans and walk away in disgust. The only witness scheduled is Janet Napolitano. How can Republicans in this ‘gang’ stomach that? Perhaps they plan to run as Democrats in the future because that’s the only way they’ll get a vote out of illegals.

“Four Democrats and four Republicans, known as the ‘Gang of Eight,’ wrapped up months of hard-fought negotiations this week and will put forth a bill that includes a pathway to citizenship for many of the 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the U.S.”

I don’t know about you, but I don’t give a damn about their “months of hard-fought negotiations.” How many months have you worked to pay for the illegals in this country and those who protect them?

“If the Senators actually do wait until Tuesday to roll out their lengthy proposed overhaul of the U.S. immigration system, that will give members of the Senate Judiciary Committee less than a full day to read it before the only Senate hearing on the topic. Despite ardent pleas from Senate conservatives, including ranking Senate Judiciary Committee member Sen. Chuck Grassley, the committee’s chairman, Sen. Pat Leahy, has only agreed to one hearing on the legislation.

Leahy scheduled that single hearing for Wednesday at 2:30 PM, and the hearing’s sole scheduled witness is Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano. Napolitano would have less than a full day to read the bill she is scheduled to testify about.” Read the entire story at Breitbart Big Government

Bryon York:

“…possibly 1,500 pages — and complex, and it will call for far-reaching changes in important areas of American life. One would think the leadership of the Senate might want to talk about it.

Not so. Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy, a longtime supporter of immigration reform, has vowed to push the bill through his committee “with all deliberate speed.” When Sen. Marco Rubio, perhaps the key Republican in the Gang, called on Leahy to hold “multiple” hearings on the bill, Leahy flatly turned him down. The committee will hold just one more hearing on the bill, Leahy declared.”

These ‘gangs’ should disburse and promise never again to meet-up, at least until John McCain and Lindsey Graham are no longer in the Senate.  Mark Levin says it’s “democratic tyranny,” and indeed it is. Understand this, there is nothing Republicans can do to stop this because Democrats have no shame, which is why these ‘gangs’ are more than a little inappropriate.

Republicans John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Jeff Flake and Rubio put their stamp on the legislation and now must live with it. For every story you read about how “worried” Marco Rubio is about his legislation being rushed through, don’t feel any sympathy for him and hold him accountable in the next election. If you don’t think it’s insane and obscene to bring in Janet Napolitano as the only hearing witness, what is wrong with you? You aren’t paying attention. If I didn’t mention it earlier – don’t feel any sympathy for Marco Rubio if he can’t turn this around.  GAAAAHHHHHHH! The Lonely Conservative has more.
