Margaret Thatcher was 87 when she died of a stroke on April 8th, 2013. She was the country’s longest-serving prime minister in 150 years, and today Queen Elizabeth was present to say good-by to The Iron Lady who was only 6 months older than Her Majesty. Barack Obama spoke of the “shameful” Senate today which rejected gun background check legislation, but the real shame comes from this White House which refused to send senior members of his administration to pay the respects of a largely grateful Nation – and this refusal came before the Boston bombing. Former Vice President Dick Cheney led the American delegation. Whether Cheney was asked to go by Obama or not, he believe he would have gone anyway. George W. Bush did not attend due to, reportedly, previous commitments which are likely the May 1st opening of his presidential library. I really wish he had made a few schedule adjustments. Note that Bishop Richard Chartres said that Lady Thatcher requested a funeral service, not a memorial.
