The Times of Israel reports that Ynet reports that Obama toted a Magnolia Tree from the White House garden to Israel, planted it, and the Israeli Agriculture Minister dug it up to check it for disease. Arutz Sheva says the tree was planted today at the Presidential Residence, home of Israeli President Shimon Peres, in Jerusalem.
Ynet is reporting that by order of the Agriculture Ministry, the magnolia tree brought from the US by the president and planted by Obama and Peres earlier this afternoon is being dug up. Really.
Plants cannot be brought in from abroad “without undergoing a check” by the ministry, the report quotes the bureaucrats as saying. Source
The Guardian also quotes The Times of Israel. The Ynet report has to be translated, and what I can see says, the tree “will be taken for testing:” “will be returned if found to be clean of pests.” More here but a video obscures part of the article. Assuming the tree was quarantined, the U.S. would do the same. Did you see the report of Obama’s broken-down limo in Israel? Can you guess where the back-up is coming from? Read it here.
