Middle East Conflicts War Memorial, Marseilles Illinois – Video

Did you know there is a specific Memorial for our men and women lost in Middle East wars? I didn’t, but there is and what I saw in this video will put a lump in your throat, right after your heart skips a beat and then maybe a tear in the eye, or for the guys, maybe just a speck of dust flew-by. An honor guard of 12,000 motorcyclists accompanied the first of the black granite wall(s) sitting on a river bank. Each year the walls are rededicated and new names added, dog tags handed out with the names of the newly fallen, and honored with about 50,000 in attendance.

Land was donated on June 19, 2004 by the MTCO Corporation, Marseilles Cellular, an operating partner of Illinois Valley Cellular which hosts the event each year. In 2007, Illinois Valley Cellular donated a portion of their lobby for the museum

…a gift of love and respect from the American Patriotic Community who could not wait for the government to say Thank You.

Wow! Thanks for posting. I’ll put this on our bucket list.

montanaconserv, thanks. I would love to do the same, but seems everytime we head somewhere it’s for either coastline. I get to ORD and that’s about it in Illinois but this would be worth the trip. I wonder why we don’t hear more about it. On June 2nd this year, it should be on every network and cable news station.

Oops, I think it’s June 2nd. I thought I put that in the article. I’ll have to check.

Maggie … What a WONDERFUL job you have done with this story. Beautiful pictures and background history. Maybe now that you have shared this with America, these brave men and women will receive the honor due them.

Bless you Maggie for your time and effort. You’re the best … LOVE YOU.

Carl, thank you for the tip. I’m going to send this to Fox and ask them to schedule for the June rededication. Can’t believe I left the date out, but I’ll add it in and send it on. Sending blessings right back to you and Peg.

I ditto the words of Carl Middleton, and your words Maggie: “…a gift of love and respect from the American Patriotic Community who could not wait for the government to say Thank You.” Why did not our chicken-in-chief donate the money he wasted on golf and vacations for a national Middle East Conflicts War Memorial?

    • http://maggiesnotebook.com Maggie

Richard Hensley, yes, one golf vacation would have paid for every penny of this. Obama is not a man to give up anything for our Military. Thanks for the kind words.

This is a beautiful example of what the private sector can do that our politician find so difficult.

Thank you for sharing. I had no idea this memorial exists.

There will be more names added (unfortunately) after Obama attacks Israel. That is his ultimate goal.
