Mark Kelly is the husband of former Arizona Congresswoman Gabby Giffords (D) who was gravely wounded (not “mortally” wounded as Joe Biden said this week) when Jared Lee Loughner shot her in the head in a Tucson parking lot. Fourteen were wounded, six died. Loughner used a 9mm Glock Model 19 pistol. Giffords and Kelly are lobbying for Feinstein’s gun ban (not dead) and a federal/national database. Kelly decided to make a point about how easy it is to buy these weapons, but he didn’t buy the 9mm Glock, he bought an AR-15 from Diamondback Police Supply in Tucson.
Kelly reportedly purchased the rifle to prove how easy it is to buy an assault weapon after his ex-wife’s injury, planning to turn it into Tucson police after the transaction. However, MacKinlay told The Arizona Daily Star that the purchase was terminated Thursday and a refund was sent the same day. Since the store was by law required to hold the rifle for 20 days, the purchase was terminated before Kelly could take possession of the firearm.Source: IBT
Kelly got down politically before he even took possession of the AR-15, probably because he got caught before the law let him take possession. Diamondback bought the gun from a customer and law requires, in that instance, that the gun be held for 20 days to ensure that the weapon was not used in a crime. In the meantime, Kelly was talking on Facebook about how “scary” it is that people can buy guns without background checks. He has claimed that his intention was to turn the weapon over to police.
Store owner Doug MacKinlay said Monday in a Facebook post of his own that he “determined that was in my company’s best interest to terminate this transaction prior to his returning to my store.”
“While I support and respect Mark Kelly’s 2nd Amendment rights to purchase, possess, and use firearms in a safe and responsible manner, his recent statements to the media made it clear that his intent in purchasing the Sig Sauer M400 5.56mm rifle from us was for reasons other then for his personal use,” MacKinlay said in the statement.
He added that the store will return Kelly’s money, donate the rifle to the Arizona Tactical Officers Association to be raffled as a fundraiser and make an additional contribution of $1,295 — the value of the rifle — to the Eddie Eagle GunSafe Program. Source: Fox News
Gabby Giffords resigned from Congress in January due to her injuries. Mark Kelly is far more famous now than he was as an astronaut, because as we all know, going into Space is no longer important enough to fund. Another one two of those crazy Liberal ideas.
