Megyn Kelly on Mark Kelly’s AR-15: Diamondback Police Supply Cancels Kelly’s AR-15

Mark Kelly is the husband of former Arizona Congresswoman Gabby Giffords (D) who was gravely wounded (not “mortally” wounded as Joe Biden said this week) when Jared Lee Loughner shot her in the head in a Tucson parking lot. Fourteen were wounded, six died. Loughner used a 9mm Glock Model 19 pistol. Giffords and Kelly are lobbying for Feinstein’s gun ban (not dead) and a federal/national database. Kelly decided to make a point about how easy it is to buy these weapons, but he didn’t buy the 9mm Glock, he bought an AR-15 from Diamondback Police Supply in Tucson.

Kelly reportedly purchased the rifle to prove how easy it is to buy an assault weapon after his ex-wife’s injury, planning to turn it into Tucson police after the transaction. However, MacKinlay told The Arizona Daily Star that the purchase was terminated Thursday and a refund was sent the same day. Since the store was by law required to hold the rifle for 20 days, the purchase was terminated before Kelly could take possession of the firearm.Source: IBT

Kelly got down politically before he even took possession of the AR-15, probably because he got caught before the law let him take possession. Diamondback bought the gun from a customer and law requires, in that instance, that the gun be held for 20 days to ensure that the weapon was not used in a crime. In the meantime, Kelly was talking on Facebook about how “scary” it is that people can buy guns without background checks. He has claimed that his intention was to turn the weapon over to police.

Store owner Doug MacKinlay said Monday in a Facebook post of his own that he “determined that was in my company’s best interest to terminate this transaction prior to his returning to my store.”

“While I support and respect Mark Kelly’s 2nd Amendment rights to purchase, possess, and use firearms in a safe and responsible manner, his recent statements to the media made it clear that his intent in purchasing the Sig Sauer M400 5.56mm rifle from us was for reasons other then for his personal use,” MacKinlay said in the statement.

He added that the store will return Kelly’s money, donate the rifle to the Arizona Tactical Officers Association to be raffled as a fundraiser and make an additional contribution of $1,295 — the value of the rifle — to the Eddie Eagle GunSafe Program. Source: Fox News

Gabby Giffords resigned from Congress in January due to her injuries. Mark Kelly is far more famous now than he was as an astronaut, because as we all know, going into Space is no longer important enough to fund. Another one two of those crazy Liberal ideas.

  • They are gun owners yet they talk about getting rid of guns. How about they get rid of their guns first then talk about “the children”.

I dont think I have ever heard them talk about ‘getting rid of guns’. I have heard them talk about background checks for ALL gun purchases, and common sense legislation over what types of firearms/ammo people can legally purchase. I will stand behind people’s right to own a gun, and protect themselves and their families, but people need to stop saying things like “they want to get rid of guns”. That just takes a rational and reasonable debate to the absurd.

      • Chooch77, you’ll never hear anyone say they intend to get rid of guns. They will try to restrict what we have – what we can purchase, but neither you or I know what’s coming next….you.do.not.know. A Universal Background check sounds like a good idea doesn’t it? How do they GUARANTEE that when the check is run under name that our name doesn’t go on a federal or state database, at the least, showing that we were in a gun shop.

This is not a good thing. I can go with a background check but I won’t get that GUARANTEE, and neither will you.

In the meantime, you won’t find any criminals names on a database or even available for a background check until they commit a crime with a gun. Once they commit a crime with a gun, they may or may not end up on a database because our government is so inept in every single department. They can’t even track a visa.

I am truly sorry that Ms. Giffords was injured by a crazed person, as I am for all victims of violence. I agree with Diamondback Police Supply in Tuscon AZ. for denying the sale to Mr. Kelly. He is an unemployed NASA pilot (thanks to the POTUS). His wife is unemployed due to her injuries (though probably still receiving her fine Congressional taxpayer funded pension). He needs a job! Just as Sarah Brady has made tons of money off of her injured husband, Kelly is attempting to get people to donate to his newly formed charity—himself. His attempted purchase of an AR-15 wasa ploy to undermine the rights and freedom of millions of law abiding Americans. Shame on you Mr. Kelly!!!

    • Jim, I agree with all you said here. An “unemployed pilot.” Spot on.
