DHS Gave Away Over $830 Million to Local Agencies Last Fiscal Year ($830,976,000 to be exact)
We have seen nothing indicating DHS plans to cut back on local government and local law enforcement agency “grants†this year. One program, Operation Stone Garden, is widely seen by agents as a way for DHS to pay local agencies to do our jobs. Why? It is nice though that DHS would rather cut our pay 40% than to cut back on local government giveaway programs that are largely ineffective. Sounds like this union is just pissed because that money isn’t going into their pockets. Yeah, they’re right about the border not being secure, but they’re more concerned with their own power and wallets. Or is THIS union somehow different because they’re on “our side” on one issue.
This union, as most unions having to do with the border are sick and angry that they cannot do their jobs. They are officers of law, and they see the Constitution being trampled in a dangerous and egregious way. ICE officers have spoken out by the thousands about leadership that is forcing them to do the unthinkable.
