There is an actual law against presidential task forces meeting outside of the public reach and without public notice. Like most inconvenient laws, it is routinely trampled. The law is the 1972 Federal Advisory Committee Act. Why didn’t we demand this Act be respected during the ObamaCare fight? Meeting after meeting was held, with no public notice and no one from the opposition in attendance. Obama promised to put these discussion on C-SPAN, and have everybody “around a big table” at a Townhall. Neither happened. Of course it didn’t. Silly to think it would. Freedom Watch sued back then in 2009, and they are suing today for the illegal presidential task force meetings that went down quickly and resulted in yesterday’s 23 Executive Orders on gun control.
FreedomWatch’s suit is based on the argument that the White House group conducted illegal meetings with lobbyists without public notice that’s required. The suit, which was filed in Florida federal court, seeks to eliminate the task force and prevent any of its proposals from becoming law, The Hill reports.
The 1972 Federal Advisory Committee Act requires presidential task forces that include non-federal government officials to meet in public and publish notice of meetings in the Federal Register 15 days ahead of time.“President Obama and Vice President Biden have thumbed their nose at the law and instead been holding closed door meetings with special interest lobbyists on both sides of the issue,” FreedomWatch founder Larry Klayman said in a written statement.

Freedom Watch won a victory of sorts in the ObamaCare suit by eventually gaining access to documents some two years later. I believe Freedom Watch is still following the outcome of that legislation passed only by Reconciliation, the Cornhusker Kickback and a presidential statement that payment for abortions was included no where in ObamaCare. Bwahahahahah!
I am grateful for Judicial Watch and Freedom Watch, both of which do all possible to shed the bright light of day on government slime. These days, America is reflecting a vomitus, greenish hue from sea to shining sea.
