One of Obama’s Advanced Team Secret Service agents (not assigned to protect Obama) was seemingly drunk and found lying on a corner at about 7 am. It’s not clear if Aaron Francis Engler was found on the sidewalk or the street. Police found him just hours after Obama left a Miami, Florida fundraiser on Air Force One.
According to an arrest report, an officer spotted Engler lying down on the northeast corner of Southeast 7th Street and Brickell Avenue.
When the officer approached the agent, he asked if he was ok and got no response, the report said. The officer was able to get Engler’s attention and asked him to get off the ground but he refused, the report said.
The officer helped Engler get up but he was having trouble standing. When the officer walked Engler to his patrol car, he saw the agent had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath, the report said. Source: MBC Miami
Handcuffing Engler didn’t turn out to be an easy task. He may have hit the officer in the face twice. Back-up police were needed. He was charged with disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest without violence. Nice. How many of us could ‘tap’ a cop’s face and get away with it? Engler was later released to the Miami Secret Service Field Office.
Engler is said to be a part of the “uniformed division” although not a part of Obama’s protection detail. Does that mean he does or doesn’t get one of these?
