General Martin Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff has been completely politicized. Yes, I know Obama is his Commander-in-Chief, but most Military leadership would keep thoughts like, “I don’t want to be complicit if they [Israel] choose to do it [attack Iran]” silent thoughts, if they actually believed it, which is utterly repugnant, and if they didn’t believe it, they would find a way to refuse an order to promote such egregious policy – like a bad case of influenza to keep them out of the public eye. If you have the flu, you can’t be an Army General in London chatting with and planting with “journalists.” Dempsey’s predecessor, Admiral Mike Mullen visited Israel 6 times during his tenure. Mullen is quoted saying although he has “no reason to trust” Iran, Israel knows that attacking the Islamic Republic’s nuclear sites would be “incredibly destabilizing,” but at the same time he said this:
He acknowledged that it would be “incredibly dangerous” if Iran builds nuclear weapons, which Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) director Leon Panetta said Sunday are not within Iran’s capability for at least one year. ~ Admiral Mike Mullen
Now we are a year out and as you’ll see below from the DEBKA file, today is not a year ago.
Dempsey then astonished his audience by saying he did not know Iran’s nuclear intentions, “as intelligence did not reveal intentions.” What was clear, he said, was that the “international coalition” applying pressure on Iran “could be undone if [Iran] was attacked prematurely.”
If intelligence doesn’t assist in the revealing of “intentions,” then we will always be too late too the ball. What are we doing with the warrantless wiretaps if not to reveal “intentions?” What are the drones sending back if not the “intentions” of terrorists on foreign and U.S. soil? What is the “see something say something” campaign all about?
Here is the top Military man saying that an attack on Iran would “clearly delay but probably not stop Iran’s nuclear program.” Anyone think Israel can’t do enough damage to delay Iran’s nuclear ambitions for a significant period of time? Dempsey will be seen as a sour grape, or worse a fool, on the history of the world, because some MUST stop Iran.
Dempsey actually thinks the UN sanctions against Iran are successful.
The general’s timing on this assertion was unfortunate. As he spoke, the International Atomic Energy Agency reported a 31-percent jump in Iran’s 20 percent enriched uranium to 189.4 kilograms from 145 in May.
It was therefore obvious to the world that Iran has not been deflected by sanctions one whit from its gallop towards a nuclear weapon capacity, a race that will continue so long as nothing effective is done to stop – or even delay – its progress…

Just days ago, Dempsey also criticized RETIRED Navy SEALs for speaking out about Obama’s open faucet flowing classified details of SEAL operations, and said anti-Obama comments are “not useful.”
The SEALs not only saw what happened with the bin Laden kill, and heard the devastating leaks from the White House just hours after, but have watched as Obama’s
handling of Army Major Nidal Hasan, the Fort Hood murderer, has denied terrorism. No declarations of terrorism. No declarations of a terrorist. No mentions of Islamic jihad. No mention of the shouts of Allahu Akbar as Hasan mowed down 14 fellow Military and civilians on a U.S. Military base.
What are the Military and we, and General Dempsey, to think of the courtesy extended to the murderer, when his trial was delayed because the murderer wants to wear a beard in deference of his “religion,” which is really a government dictated religion. Where is the Military that would have slapped a straight-jacket on him and razored-him down, because he is a prisoner due in a court room before he is Muslim?
Nidal Hasan would rejoice at Dempsey’s Iran timidity.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff advise the President, the Pentagon, Homeland Security, and the National Security Council, but they are appointed by the President. God help us. I can’t wait until January 2013 when we knock down another dictatorship and bring back U.S. sovereignty.
