The House Judiciary Committee, along with “two major law enforcement unions” (yes, unions) will hold a press conference to discuss a “secret internal U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) memo,” – the short story of which reveals a plan to catch and release illegal immigrants, with agents determining who to prosecute and who to release. Oh well…our courts stink anyway. The Daily Caller story says the press conference will be held on “Thursday,” which is today. I can find no news that it happened. Perhaps it is scheduled for next week. Here are the details of yet another backdoor, unconstitutional amnesty. UPDATE 7-27-12: The press conference HAS happened. GeeeeeZ has the video. It confirms everything in this post and more – please watch it.
The document, uncovered by House Judiciary Committee chairman Rep. Lamar Smith and first reported by the Washington Times, shows the CBP and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) are seriously considering implementing a policy that would allow its agents to use “prosecutorial discretion” to decide which people to prosecute and which ones to just let go.
According to the document, a copy of which has been obtained by The Daily Caller, the criteria agents would use to determine whether to prosecute or release illegal immigrants include:
● “the alien’s immigration and criminal history”
● claims of family, business or property ownership, ties to the community and educational background”
● likelihood that the alien will be granted temporary or permanent status or other relief from removal”
● an alien’s age and health (both physical and mental), as well as the age and health (both physical and mental) of alien’s immediate relatives”
● “whether the alien is in the U.S. military or is the dependent of such a service member”
● and the alien’s length or presence in the United States and the circumstances of his/her arrival in the United States.”
If you are illegal, but went to High School in the U.S. you can stay. The illegal doesn’t have to carry any supporting documents, so it’s his/her word against a possible alternate reality. In fact, in one such case, the illegal alien was facing criminal charges, but went to High School somewhere here, and was released. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Union boss, Chris Cane, says any offer defying the order is threatened with losing his/her job. Remember when ICE strongly voted “No Confidence” in leadership? That leadership is still there.
Taking Obama’s illegal migrant amnesty a step further than recently announced:
It would apply to almost all illegal immigrants, instead of just young ones, the same “prosecutorial discretion” – selective enforcement of the law – behind Obama’s administrative DREAM Act from June.
The Senators planning to speak out are Jeff Sessions (R-Ala), David Vitter (R-LA), Chuck Grassley (R-IA). The unions joining the Senators are the AFL-CIO-backed National Border Patrol Council, and the American Federal of Government Employees-backed National Immigration and Customs Enforcement Council.
