Blogging Unreported Right News 2012 #BURN2012 Open Thread: Calling Conservative Bloggers…Again

A few of us have been discussing ways to unite Conservative bloggers, without burdening our already packed schedules, in a way that might make a huge impact. For lack of a better way to explain it, using Twitter and  the hashtag #BURN2012 might work. #BURN2012 = Blogging Unreported Right News 2012. Each #BURN2012 tweet becomes a “Conservative Bloggers Cooperative Bulletin.”

Not breaking the rules, just changing the rules.

Because, well Maggie was right. It is going to be too big a pain in the ass not to just blog what you find and add the tag to that post.

I say before this goes too far, we let people know that it is OK to #BURN2012 and send people to their own personal blogs for the scoop.

I think that most everyone is in this to beat Obama and not to post pimp.

#BURN2012

The mission: informing a large number of like-minded bloggers of the most useful and devastating anti-Obama, and anti-Obama administration news – sharing it, and getting the news out quickly on many sites.

Example using 5 bloggers (maybe we’ll have 400):

Mary’s Blog
Ted’s Blog
Jerry’s Blog
Kathy’s Blog
Oscar’s Blog

We are all watching the Twitter hashtags we generally rely on.

Mary’s Blog sees a great tip or link to a hot story.

Mary is like…dang, I have to get this out!

Mary puts the tip and link in a new tweet with #BURN2012

The BURN-ers (us) see it.

The remaining four blogs, and Mary’s Blog, may all blog the story in their own way, or move on to something else if they are not interested. If any of the 5 blogs blog it themselves and tweet their own story, THEY DO NOT use the #BURN2012 hashtag.

We utilize #BURN2012 once per hot story and then let it take on a life of its own with our #TCOT and #GOP, etc.

The story has now multiplied itself across many blogs.

We’re bloggers…so getting to a good story fast and first is important. If you want to blog it yourself first, do so but do not use #BURN2012. Some one of us will surely pick it up, or you can notify us that someone needs to BURN it.

The mission: informing a large number of like-minded bloggers of the most useful and devastating anti-Obama, and anti-Obama administration news – sharing it and getting it out quickly.

Take anything with the #BURN2012 hashtag which you feel valuable and link it, quote it, retweet it, repost it, modify it, post it to Facebook or other social networks – whatever you think appropriate.

For instance, George Soros is funding a “Dump [Allen] West SuperPac. I would Tweet this post, using #BURN 2012 (just an example), and I would also blog it, or maybe I would blog it and then #BURN2012 the post linked in this paragraph.

This is about uniting Conservative bloggers. It is not about hits. It’s about defeating Obama. We know we are generally read by the choir, that those reading the Daily Kos likely won’t stop by, but hundreds of thousands are visiting us collectively (and individually for some sites). Some of those readers have to be concerned Democrats, looking for information on why their vote in 2008 went so terribly wrong.

To clarify: #BURN2012 will not be for the usual news and rants about Obama and Company. We have many effective hashtags for our general outrage: #GOP, #NRCC, #NRSC, #TCOT, #TLOT, #VRWC #TWISTERS, etc.

#BURN2012 is for fresh red meat, new charts and graphs, fresh quotes, new Executive Orders, any breaking news that can affect elections. Within a short time, the new red meat will be not so fresh, but still potent if enough of us are writing about it and Tweeting it to the usual hashtags. With Tweet Deck, we can put #BURN2012 on our dashboard for instant access. Maybe it’s the same with Hoot Suite and others. BC at I’m a Man, I’m 41 is working on an icon.

The background is here and here. Read the comments at both places. Your comments are welcome, and your name or blog name if you are willing to participate, or email me and I’ll add you to the list. We can support and promote each other. It’s a win-win for everyone, and hopefully for Romney. Please pass this on to your friends. Maybe we can make it huge. Awaiting your thoughts.

  • I think it’s a neat idea, but people will have to remember to do a search to see if someone else has the hashtag in use before they use it, because the truth is that a lot of us stumble across the same information at around the same time so if the rule is that only ONE post about the story may use the tag, then that rule may become easily and accidentally broken.
I don’t want to inadvertently screw it up with my Lyme Brain accidentally, so I probably won’t use the tag myself (not that I do much political blogging at the moment anyway), but I’ll watch for it & RT them when I see ’em!

    • Zilla, there are no penalties:-) Your Lyme Brain is worth 500 Liberal brains. If you feel you have a time to use it, please do so, and don’t be concerned about whether it’s right or not. We’re looking for new news, changing situations, something not everyone has already talked about.

  • Bunkerville

    I’m game..great idea.

  • Oh for the love of God!!! This is all your fault! I just signed up for Twitter. My hubby will have a cow! heh
