Congressman Louis Gohmert (R-TX) wants access to documents from the trial of the Holy Land Foundation, an unindicted co-conspirator in the War on Terror (and shutdown in the U.S.), and is accusing Attorney General Eric Holder of withholding those documents from Congress after providing them to terrorists:
“When I hear an attorney general of the United States come before us and say, somewhat cavalierly, there is a political aspect to this office, it offends me beyond belief. Your job is justice, Mr. Attorney General, Gohmert told Holder.
He went on, “When we made a request a year ago – here – for the documents that your department has produced to people who were convicted of supporting terrorism. They are terrorists, and we wanted the documents you gave to the terrorists. We are a year later, and we still don’t have them.”
Gohmert added that it made ‘no sense“ that the United States Attorney General would be more ”considerate” to supporters of terrorism than to members of Congress.
“I am asking for the documents your department produced to the terrorist supporters convicted in the Holy Land Foundation trial. Can we get those documents?” he asked…
…Just like his colleague, [Rep. Trent] Franks informed Holder that the defense lawyers in the Holy Land Foundation trial were given access to the evidence, therefore Congress should be given the same courtesy.
Holder’s ultimate response was that the DOJ would review the documents and determine whether it is appropriate for Congress to see what he gave to the terrorist’s defense teams.
It was later reiterated that it was seemingly appropriate for defense lawyers for convicted terrorism supporters to view the “material” but somehow not for members of United States Congress. June 7, 2012 – The Blaze
So what terrorist entities did Holder give the documents to?
Three prominent Muslim-American organizations were labeled by the federal government as “unindicted co-conspirators” in the trial-the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) and the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT). The documents requested by Rep. Gohmert for the past year were provided to the Holy Land Foundation’s defense team, yet are being denied to Congress. Source: Weasel Zippers
CAIR raised money for Hamas. Nevertheless, CAIR continues to operate across the U.S. and specifically in the offices of Congress and up-and-down their hallways. In my state of Oklahoma, the Oklahoma Conference of Churches sponsored a fundraiser for CAIR. In mid-2011 the non-profit (unbelievable, isn’t it) CAIR lost its IRS tax-exempt status. The FBI was forced to cut their ties with CAIR (or so we’re told), but the FBI and the DOJ are working to purge terrorism documents of “language” that they consider gives the wrong impression (of terrorists???). Holder said, in The Blaze article linked above, none of that work is based on “political correctness.” Right. If I could, I’d place a bet that CAIR is one of the outside agencies tearing their way through our terrorism manuals with a black magic marker. When it comes to our government and CAIR, this is only the tip of the iceberg.
