Avonna Olson (or Olsen), a Tulsa wife and mother was murdered today in a carjacking when the thief ran over her as she tried to stop him.
It happened around 5:30 Friday morning near 46rd West Avenue and West 3rd Street in west Tulsa.
According to police, Olson went outside and started her minivan to warm it up and went back inside to get ready for work. When she heard the engine revving, she went back outside and spotted someone inside the vehicle.
Police say, she got into the minivan and struggled with the suspect. At some point, she was pushed out of the vehicle and run over. Officers believe she was killed instantly.
Police say her husband went outside during the struggle and witnessed the entire incident.
FOX23 has learned the victim is a long-time employee with Tulsa Public Schools.
Police located the van just after 6:00 a.m. at the Sandy Park Apartments where it’s thought the suspect ran inside one of the apartments. By the time officers arrived there the suspect had left and is still at large.
Police say the carjacker will be charged with murder. Mrs. Olson was 45 years old. Praying comfort for this family.
