Tommy Jordan Hannah Jordan: Daughter Post Bratty Rant on Facebook – Dad Shoots Daughters Laptop

South North Carolina Dad Tommy Jordan read a posting on his daughter’s Facebook wall that was a message to him, but that she, Hannah Jordan, didn’t think her Dad would ever see. You know, all that Facebook security and such. Dad says he has spent his entire life in the IT business, so, yes, he saw the posting addressed to him. During the first half of the video, while Dad is reading Hannah’s bratty rant, I’m thinking, wow! she has to come home from school and make all the beds, but no, that’s not the story. So he responds to Hannah in the video below, in the end he takes out his 45 and puts 9 bullets in the laptop. According to Dad, Hannah won’t get another laptop until she buys it herself and pays him back the $130 he just spent upgrading all her software for her, at her request.

Mr. Jordan tells his daughter that he is very disappointed in her, and that she has disrespected every adult in her life. Her language is crude and rude. She let her father know, when he is old and unable to take care of himself, she will not be around to help him. What kind of a 15 year kid thinks of something like that? After his video went up on YouTube, the story is, the local police stopped by the Jordan house and they thanked him. Child Protective Services showed up too:

Hannah's Laptop Dead and Done

Mr Jordan said: ‘If I had it to do again… let’s see… I’d do it almost the same’.

He said that those who disagree with his parenting methods have called police and child protective services to his Albermarle home.

But Mr Jordan said he’s sorry to disappoint anyone who was hoping he would wind up arrested in the matter.

‘The police by the way said “Kudos, Sir” and most of them made their kids watch it. I actually had a “thank you” from an entire detectives squad.’

He added: ‘And another police officer is using it in a positive manner in his presentation for the school system. How’s about those apples? Didn’t expect THAT when you called the cops did you?’ Source: Daily Mail

The Daily Mail article says CBS called to offer him a television show. He said no thanks. Said that Hannah is doing fine now, but initially said it was the most horrible day in her life.

To those criticizing his parenting skills:

If I did something embarrassing to my parents in public (such as a grocery store) I got my tail tore up right there in front of God and everyone, right there in the store,’ he said. ‘I put the reprisal in exactly the same medium she did, in the exact same manner.’

He added that the stunt was intended to show her that she cannot take possessions and her parents money for granted, claiming the video had been ‘very effective’.

It had reminded her that whatever she writes on Facebook or other social networking sites will be there to haunt her in years to come, he added.

So when you read that Mr. Jordan was “snooping” in his daughter’s computer – he didn’t (although he’s the Dad and has the right). The real story has something to do with the family dog. Click the Daily Mail link above to read it.

  • I think he did the right thing. I pray, my dad would do the same if i was acting bratty and spoiled. Granted im not 15. But two years isnt that far apart. Tommy, you really did the right thing.

Way to go, Tommy! Nothing ticks me off worse than a bitchy, spoiled, self-centered, egotistical, arrogant, UNGRATEFUL teenage girl who is too lazy to get up off her brains and do some simple little chores around the house!!!
You did absolutely the right thing. God bless you, Tommy!

Way, way, way too extreme parenting, Tommy. Also, a very violent and distructive ‘get even’ parenting technique which reveals the genesis of this dysfunctional family relationship. Hannah was completely wrong in acting out the way she did, but it seems yours is a relationship of extremes. Now, your child is a runaway. Is she safe? Will she fall victim to the perils runaways face when on their own with limited resources? Family counseling was the ONLY choice here, and you blew it. You could have had her involuntarily kept at a facility designed to help troubled teens while you received the help YOU need. You two are a pair of hammers pounding each other with no productive end. Someone needs to be the bigger person. I support you taking her PC. It could have been donated to a worthwhile charity. The facebook post is inexcusable and nothing more than a slightly more controlled temper tantrum. You both need to both get help with the giant chip you both carry on your shoulder. I would never question your parenting, but you put it out there for the world. Now your child is at risk of something terrible.
