Sarah Palin: Brokered Convention

Sarah Palin, speaking at CPAC 2012 with The New York Times and CNN, said a brokered convention is only frowned upon by those with their own agenda and their own political reasons. A brokered convention, she says, will not hurt the GOP, no one should drop-out at this time, and she still isn’t endorsing a candidate, but may in the future. She says her contract with Fox News does not deny her the right to announce who she is supporting…once she makes that decision.

“People who start screaming that a brokered convention is the worst thing that could happen to the G.O.P., they have an agenda,” Ms. Palin said in an interview. “They have their own personal or political reasons, their own candidate who they would like to see protected away from a brokered convention.”…

When asked if Mr. Gingrich should step aside to allow conservative to coalesce behind Rick Santorum, Ms. Palin said, “Not yet.” She said that there was “room for more debate, for more discussion, adding: “I wouldn’t encourage anyone to drop out.” Source: New York Times
