Two pieces of news in this morning post. In the video below, Al Sharpton interviews Conservative Congressman Tim Huelscamp (R-KS) (Sharpton using his favorite perjorative “Tea Party Congressman”). Sharpton, rude and angry, insists Heulscamp legitimize a report the Congressman believes is not legitimate. Then we find today that Warren Buffet’s longtime secretary, Debbie Bosanek, earns a salary of $200,000 to $500,000. Surely if she wasn’t ‘earning’ it, Buffet wouldn’t keep her around. With not a whit of disrespect to Ms. Bosanek, the cheeky Obama’s placed her in the seats next to, or near, the First Lady, historically reserved for “heroes.” See an Update below.
Sharpton used the word “fair” or “fairness” eighteen times in the video (before I quit counting). Facts are not on Sharpton’s radar – his racist psyche innately ignores facts. Sharpton thinks he is drilling Huelscamp. Huelscamp keeps smiling and stating fact, and refuses to acknowledge the word “fair” in a spurious study. Note Sharpton’s face. Brow wrinkled, eyes a slit, then wide, the skin between the eyebrows tortured.
Huelscamp maintains his friendly composure throughout and has a wonderful quote about “fairness:”
Fairness is not the end result – it’s the opportunity. ~ Congressman Tim Huelscamp
At the very end of the video, Huelscamp asks:
Debbie Bosanek attended the State of the Union address as a proper Democrat tool to show that she pays more in income taxes than her famous Billionaire boss, Warren Buffet. Today we learn her income is somewhere between $200,000 and $500,000 annually.
Here’s how the White House described those invited to sit in the “Heroes Gallery:”
“For nearly three decades, extraordinary Americans who exemplify the themes and ideals laid out in the State of the Union Address have been invited to join the First Lady in her viewing box,” Kevin Lewis, a White House spokesman told The Huffington Post’s Black Voices via e-mail Tuesday morning.
With Mrs. Bosanek’s unfair tax burden, she and hubby Gerald, ably purchased a second home in a vacation spot. It’s called ‘American Opportunity,’ or more commonly, ‘The American Way.’ Her income is for current work done – and the taxes are the first paid on that income by her, not income from investments on which taxes were already paid. If Bosanek pays 15% on a six-figure salary over $200,000, as Buffet claims, hats off to her for finding great tax accountant (which likely has some connection to the Buffet organization – wouldn’t ya think?).
UPDATE 12:39 pm CDT 1-26-12: The National Review says Buffet has said Mrs. Bosanek makes only $60,000 a year, in which case, her accountant isn’t such a hot-shot after all.
