Newt Gingrich’s ex-wife, Marianne Gingrich, is quoted saying she could end Newt’s career with a “single interview.” Cheeky, huh. When she said it, or to whom she said it, isn’t clear, but she has interviewed with ABC’s Brian Ross this week. It’s reasonable to assume she plans to try to derail his presidential aspirations. It is not reasonable to assume the ABC chat will be a positive for Newt, or that ABC would have any interest in a Marianne Gingrich glowing about her ex. See ongoing UPDATES below.
UPDATE: 1-19-12 11:55 am CDT: News leaks today say Marianne Gingrich told NBC that Newt asked her for “open marriage” arrangement while he was cheating on her with his current wife, Calista. What she may not say is that she was participating in what could be considered an “open” marriage arrangement when she was sleeping with him, knowing he was married to Jackie Gingrich. Reaganite Republican has a new article up. Here’s a snippet:
He’s [Newt] clearly winning it on the issues now… that’s all anybody should give a damn about in 2012: this country needs help, and that lying dog (Mutt) won’t hunt.
UPDATE: 1-19-12 8:30 am CDT: Rick Perry is dropping out of the race and endorsing Gingrich. Polls this morning show Newt has passed Romney in the South Carolina primary polls – within the margin of error, about 2% at this time.
Marianne and Newt were apparently involved while he was married to wife No. 1.
The ex-wife has said Gingrich proposed to her before the divorce from his first wife was final in 1981. Her marriage to Gingrich ended in divorce in 2000. Gingrich admitted he’d already taken up with Callista Bisek, his third wife. Source Breitbart
ABC now has an ethical challenge, don’t ya know. When should they release the interview? The original plan was to air it on Monday, after the Saturday, January 21st South Carolina primary. Ah, but no. The interview will come Thursday night, the 19th on ABC’s Nightline, after the CNN GOP debate at 8 pm EST. Hell hath no fury like the ex-wife of a politician. If there is damage ahead, it’s already rolling Newt’s way. The interview is described as “explosive.” If it’s going to happen, let’s get it over with now. Thanks to The Drudge Report
