Perry Bachmann Huntsman Santorum NOT On Virginia Ballot – Awaiting Newt News – UPDATED

A couple of days ago it was announced that Bachmann, Huntman and Santorum DID NOT qualify for the Virginia presidential Ballot. Earlier today we learned that Perry is also DISQUALIFIED. My, my! How does this happen? First, note that Virginia makes up 10% of the delegates on March 6th, Super Tuesday. This means Perry, Bachmann, Huntsman and Santorum will not have an opportunity to be a recipient of those proportionally-awarded electoral votes. But Romney’s on the ballot. Paul’s on the ballot. Gingrich? Tonight’s it is still unknown. At 10:23 p.m. tonight, the AP says it maybe “early Saturday” before we know that of the 11,050 signatures the Gingrich campaign submitted, at least 10,000 of them are legitimate.  Allahpundit put it in perspective:  “I’ll be in a dark room drinking myself into unconsciousness.”

UPDATE – 12-14-11: Virginia says Gingrich DID NOT qualify for their presidential primary ballot. This article presents the possibility that Bachmann, Santorum and Huntsman may not have submitted petitions by yesterday’s 5 p.m. deadline. It has to be costly to get a crew together to gather 10,000 names, but if you win Iowa, do you think you won’t need Virginia? I don’t think so. Maybe this is the first sign of an exit strategy for the three???

Gingrich is saying Virginia has a flawed system. This article says Newt will begin an aggressive “write-in” campaign. I understand that either the state of Virginia or the Virginia GOP has no “write-in” option. More as information becomes available.

Everclear 190 Proof

So even if Perry shocks the world in Iowa and South Carolina, he’s now ineligible for 10+ percent of the Super Tuesday delegates right out of the box. And that’s not even the worst part: Moe Lane of Red State pointed out on Twitter that Gingrich is actually leading in Virginia right now with 30 percent of the vote compared to just six percent for Perry. If he’s struck from the ballot too, which suddenly seems highly likely, the Virginia primary ballot will consist entirely and exclusively of … Mitt Romney and Ron Paul. That’s your choice. Pass the Everclear.

Perry turned in 11,911 signatures, but a full 10,000 apparently were not considered legitimate. How much money would you put on Newt’s chances?
