A short rundown on reporting on Sharon Bialek and then asking who hugged who and how and, was Bialek fired from the National Restaurant Association for accusing her boss of sexual harassment?
1) Bialek has had 9 jobs in 17 years;
2) She filed for bankruptcy the first time in 1991;
4) sometime after, she allegedly approached Cain to ask for a job;
6) In 2001 she filed her second bankruptcy;
7) At some point, Bialek acknowledged that she lived in the same building where David Axelrod (Obama’s Senior political adviser and close friend) abides – but, they’ve only exchanged nods. Some of the liens filed against her appear to be for unpaid rent while living in same building with Axelrod (she had liens filed against her by two Lake Shore Condos).
8) Today her money problems are non-existant as her fiance supports her;
10) That brings us to her current claim that Herman Cain groped her under her skirt.
Now it’s time to ask who hugged who, and how.
Fox News’ Megyn Kelly interviewed a Chicago radio show host today who said she was present with Herman Cain’s accuser, Sharon Bialek, when Bialek walked up to Cain at a Conference about a month ago. Jacobson tells the story in the video below. Jacobson is also quoted and perhaps paraphrased in a Chicago Sun Times column today by Michael Sneed. There are two stories of “hugging,” and there are significant differences in the kind of hugging that happened, if “hugging” happened at all.
Jacobson told Megyn Kelly today: …and she hugged him for a few seconds and then she grabbed his arm…
The Sneed story identifies Jacobson as “the Sneed source,” and with no quotation marks, the story says this:
The Cain Encounter …
They hugged each other backstage in a full embrace like old friends.
She grabbed his arm and whispered in his left ear.
She kept talking as he bent to listen, and he kept saying “Uh, huh. Uh, huh.”
The first sign of a quote is the ‘Uh,huh.’
Later in the article Jacobson is quoted:
“It looked sort of flirtatious,” said Jacobson. “I mean they were hugging. But she could have been giving him the kiss of death for all I know. I had no idea what they were talking about, but she was inches from his ear.”
Did Amy Jacobson tell Sneed that there was a “full embrace?” Not if you believe her interview with Megyn Kelly today. Also in the video, Bialek acknowledges meeting Cain about a month ago at TeaCon. She says nothing about hugs, but does say she asked him he remembered her. Here’s the Megyn Kelly Amy Jacobson interview transcript beginning at about 1:17-in.
MEGYN: You were there at this Conservative conference and saw this woman go up to Herman Cain. First of all, how do you remember that, and second of all, tell us what you saw.
JACOBSON: I remember it because we were with her prior to his arrival, and she kept asking, “is he here yet,” is he coming yet,” “will you let me know when he’s here?” We knew her through radio sales, you know, she’s worked at several stations in the Chicago area so we knew who she was.
And when we went back stage, she kind of bum-rushed me Megyn, because I was trying to get a picture with him for Twitter and for Facebook and for our website at WIND, and she hugged him for a few seconds and then she grabbed his arm and started whispering in his ear, and it became very tense so, I took a few steps back, and went okay, and looked at other people, like what’s going on here? And she talked to him for awhile and he didn’t say anything but he was going mmhmm, mmhmm, mmhmm. And then she walked out and he walked up on stage.
MEGYN: Did she look upset, or did he look upset?
JACOBSON: No, she’s got a very bubbly personality and is maybe flirtatous by nature, so she looked determined, Megyn, and she was very determined to talk to him. She was hell-bent to make sure she had private time with him. It was the perfect place, because we weren’t going to interrupt the conversation.
MEGYN: Did he look jared at whatever it was she was whispering in his ear?
JACOBSON: He didn’t react at all. He was stone-faced and he just went mmhmm, mmhmm. For some reason, she had told me prior to this that she and her boyfriend had met him in 1997 at an after party for a National Restaurant Association event, and they went upstairs to his hotel room with a group of people.
She never made any disparaging remarks about him or said I need to talk to him, but she really wanted to know when he was going to arrive.
MEGYN: When she was finished with that exchange, did she say anything to you? How did her demeanor appear at that point?
JACOBSON: She rushed off into the crowd to listen to him speak. She didn’t say a word. And she seemed…I don’t know, she seemed determined, she seemed a little agitated. She went off into the crowd.
MEGYN: That’s interesting. That’s the first time we’ve heard SHE GAVE HIM A HUG. I think she earlier that she shook his hand, but it seemed like a cordial greeting at least, before the ear whisper took place?
JACOBSON: Well, she needed to corner him so that we weren’t around, so that she could have her moment with him.
So which is it? They hugged in full embrace, like old friends, or she hugged him, grabbed his arm and he became tense? Or were “they flirtatious,” or was Bialek flirtatious (as Jacobson said she is)? Did Jacobson hear Bialek ask Cain if he remembered her, and hear his answer?
Note that Herman Cain ran for the U.S. Senate in 2004 and not a word from any of these women was uttered. Bob at the Camp of the Saints expresses a deeply held opinion of Gloria Allred, and while I wrote about a Allred story I heard on Sean Hannity’s radio show yesterday, I’ll repeat it here. A caller to Sean brought up Juanita Brodderick, the woman who Bill Clinton brutally raped. The caller rung-up Gloria and asked her to take Brodderick’s case. Allred allegedly said she wasn’t interested, and we can deduce that to be because she would be attacking Bill Clinton.
If the name Amy Jacobson sounds familiar, she was videotaped in a bikini top and a towel at the home of Craig Stebic about 3 months after his wife, Lisa Ruttenberg Stebic, was reported missing in April 2007. Lisa is presumed dead. Craig Stebic has been named a person of interes. Jacobson lost her job with WMAQ-TV after the video was published by a rival station.
If you missed Herman Cain press conference today, The Other McCain lived-blogged it and has all the subsequent updates. Here’s a headline for you: Jobless and shameless gal going for gold. Lots more at Memorandum’s huge thread. Begin here.
