You Can Run But Not Hide

Especially if your name is Anwar al-Awlaki.

Born in the United States to parents of Yemeni origins.  His parents returned to Yemen when he was 7.  He lived in Yemen for 11 years then returned to the United States to attend university.  He graduated Colorado State University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and was the President of the University’s Muslim Students Union.  He was a leader in al-Qaeda and took over leadership of the organization when Bin Ladin was killed.

al-Awlaki was the English voice of al-Qaeda.

The U.S.-born terror mastermind Anwar al-Awlaki has been killed, Fox News confirms.

The government of the Republic of Yemen officially announced the death, saying Awlaki was targeted and killed about 5 miles from the town of Khashef in the Province of Jawf.

The operation was launched earlier today at around 9:55 AM, local time.

Yemeni security and tribal officials said an air strike thought to have been carried out by U.S. aircraft on Friday targeted a convoy of cars traveling in the eastern province of Marib but could not say whether al-Awlaki was in the convoy.

The 40-year-old al-Awlaki is believed to have inspired and even plotted or helped coordinate some of the recent attacks on the U.S., including the failed Christmas Day 2009 bombing of an airliner heading for Detroit, Michigan, and the also unsuccessful plot to send mail bombs on planes from Yemen to the United States in October.

The American-born son of Yemeni parents rose to prominence as Al-Qaeda’s English-speaking voice and electronic messenger, spreading its terrorist credo via a blog, social media posts and email exchanges with such people as the U.S. Army major accused of a murderous shooting rampage at Fort Hood, Texas.

The Pakistani-American man who pleaded guilty to the May 2010 Times Square failed car bombing attempt told interrogators he was “inspired” by al-Awlaki after making contact over the Internet. Al-Awlaki was further believed to have had a hand in mail bombs addressed to Chicago-area synagogues, packages intercepted in Dubai and Europe in October 2010.

Yemen had in the past reported the deaths of Al-Qaeda leaders who were later found to be alive. Al-Awlaki was last reported to have been killed in December 2009.

Al-Awlaki is on a U.S. kill-or-capture list and is accused by Washington of inspiring several attacks in the United States.

The Yemeni officials spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to share the information.

Yemen is the Arab world’s most impoverished nation and has become a haven for Al-Qaeda militants.

Yemen has claimed this kill.  The US claims it was done by a drone.  All that matters is this scumbag is dead and getting his just reward.

Piece of candy anyone?

  • Findalis, thanks so much for this. Isn’t this a good day. Love the candy, girlfriend!

    Good morning Maggie!!!

Or should I say “good mourning”!!!

I am having my first sips of morning coffee and turning to your page….Lo and Behold….another lover of muhammad wiped from the face of the earth, what a lovely way to start my morning and the weekend!!!

Hmmmmm… seems cruise missiles are the very effective toilet paper for the “will-nots” of humanity……..well….here’s to the eradication of many many more……

the headline could be true for the politic of the u.s. force, too. it doesn’t solve the problem, when they kill some people from the “kill-or-captur”-list. it makes the fundamentalists even more angrier. there was a genius, called A. Einstein, who wrote: “peace cannot be kept by force”. And it doesn’t even make it blameless, when it was done by a drone, not a soldier. Drones aren’t able to kill without a control of a human.

    • There are times when you need to take out the trash. This is one of those times.

  • Just for thought and some feed back. Obama puts out a hit order on this dude, an American citizen, some months ago and now takes all the credit with his I ordered, my intelligence, etc and in doing so acts as judge , jury, and executioner of TWO American citizens but yet insist that five of the terrorist, non citizens, connected with the 9-11 hit on America stand trial in civilian court with all rights and privileges given to an American citizen. How rational is that thinking?

  • Odd that it should happen on Rosh Hashana.

    Enemies of America, beware!

  • Anwar al-Awlaki is dead. Great news for the US Government, according to their statement that justice should be done against terrorist. I think Yemen and US, both countries have done their job in this scumbag killing.

  • I think this sets a very dangerous precedent. I have no doubt that he had it coming, but the government should not be the judge, jury, and executioner.

    Dear Trestin….

To quote you; “I think this sets a very dangerous precedent”…..

What could be more dangerous than the fate suffered by almost 3000 souls in New York City and the virtually countless dead arising out of over 17,600 acts of muslim terrorism since that fateful day?

The precedent set by the disposal of this piece of human garbage is a good one and two fold. One; it rid us of a cancerous murderer. Two; it serves to notify all the remaining madmen that the life expectancy of muslims with a taste for murder and terrorism will be frighteningly short.

Timid souls like you Trestin are the very mechanism which put smiles on the faces of terrorists as they cut our throats and then make a mockery of our courts….

Anwar al-Awlaki deserved to die…he richly deserved to die…and die he did… let us roll up our sleeves, take the fight to the enemy, kick in their front doors and place that fight right on their dinner table….let us make it known that we have come for each and every one of them and until till that joyous moment when they are dispatched from our earth in bloody fragments, let us make it plain to them they are living on borrowed time, let us make it plain to them that their vile sexual tastes, deviance, brutality of women and children and love of murder will be short lived indeed.

Personally, on Friday night, as I did on the night of Osama’s execution…I had a wonderful and blissfully sound sleep…..the last thing to echo in my ears before I drifted off were the dying screams of two murdering muslim cowards (excuse the redundancy…..)

    • Your comment is full of emotionalism. All we want is a full accounting of the evidence. America is special because we have a rule of law that even scumbags and vile offenders have access to. When we lose that, we lose our country and the real terrorists will be free to roam. Doesn’t it bother you that Homeland Security now lists veterans, preppers, and Christian groups as possible terrorists. Getting rid of a universally hated figure is the easy part of paving the way for a totalitarian state.

      • Don Laird

“Republicanmother”?……please, forgive me, but the inclusion of the word “Republican” in your thread name would indicate a level of commonsense and political understanding in your assessment of the execution of Awlaki that is only conspicuous by its very absence.

If you can bear it….perhaps a little more emotionality….

Had you been watching the news, you have the full accounting of Awlaki’s execution.

As for the evidence perhaps you haven’t been watching and reading international news over the last 5 years as it has been saturated with accounts of Awlaki’s leadership of terrorists and his incitement of the same to run amok committing as many acts of murder and terrorism as possible……in fact, Awlaki’s enthusiastic incitement was reminiscent of Nike’s call to action; “Just Do It”

With respect to the rule of law you refer to, this is the same rule of law that is one of the foundational tenets of the democratic free world so hated and oft attacked by the likes of Awlaki and Bin Laden…….strange then, in their final moments, of being cornered, when death is at hand, to, with shrieking shrill voices, they attempt to avail themselves of all its protections and legal avenues of recourse….I believe that’s called hypocrisy and it seems to me we have grown a little tired of that particular brand of islamic charades here in the West.

In any event, when they are arrested, and circumstances allow, and they and go quietly, they are given those avenues redress. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed bears witness to just that avenue. It is the avenue of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed’s salvation and our destruction.

Here is a man who is soaked with the blood of Daniel Pearl, every murdered soul in the World Trade Center bombing and thousands of others. Yet when he was arrested he went quietly, no blaze of glory for this thoughtful muslim, for in his surrender to American forces, as he well knew, began his new war, a war that would cost the American people, not lives, but hundreds of millions of dollars.

The avenue of redress provided by our democracy is an avenue enthusiastically traveled by the likes of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and thousands of others for it provides for their participation in a battle front in the war against the West that is virtually unrecognized or ignored by most; Lawfare.

In their trials, retrials, mistrials, changes of venue and a mind boggling array of frivolous motions designed to frustrate and delay prudent judicial process, we find our courts turned into obscene circuses where the rule of law and the administration of justice are made a mockery of. All of this to the quiet amusement of terrorists and one more step towards their goal; the bankrupting and destruction of America. To date this facet of the islamic war against the West has been successful beyond their wildest expectations.

Even within America itself, a breeding ground for terrorists like Awlaki, can be found other participants in this Lawfare. Witness muslims and muslim advocacy groups that come wrapped in the robes of religious propriety and entitlement. Groups like CAIR, ISNA, MSU, MSA, MAS, Muslim Public Affairs and many many others, all of which pepper our courts, quasi-judicial tribunals and review boards with the most outrageously specious lawsuits and complaints.

The intent of these groups is a mirror image of the sentiments of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed; the destruction of America by any means available. To date, with the assistance of the dull witted, the blind, the uninformed and now, the Obama administration, the muslims have enjoyed immeasurable success.

This must stop. In short, the execution of Awlaki, in no way endangers the freedoms and democracy of America, to say otherwise is both irresponsible and ridiculous.

In fact, the prosecution of programs of extreme prejudice against mass murderers like Awlaki serves notice to others that agendas and lives dedicated to terrorism will be short lived and that those targets who survive their murderous campaigns will, armed with long memories and the technology of modern warfare, pursue them to the ends of the earth. It was the same sentiment and tactic employed by the Mossad in the decades that followed the second World War in their hunt for the Nazi’s…..a tactic that enjoyed spectacular success and was not a slippery slope to the “totalitarian State” you fear.

In the search for understated but expedient programs of termination of muslim vermin like Awlaki, I am reminded of the thoughtful musings of a much loved politician, the former Premier of the Province of Alberta, Ralph Klein.

In the example that follows you will find a similarity to Sarah Palin in her assessment of a little minnow, the Delta Smelt. The Delta Smelt, deified by Leftist Green Fascists and Liberals, has, in its deification, destroyed the lives of tens of thousands of Californians. Ms. Palin provides a wonderful perspective on this fishy little saint……”Where I come from we call the Delta Smelt, bait”.

Ralph Klein, in his wildly popular administration of Alberta, brought a similar refreshingly plain spoken and straight forward approach to bear. Case in point:

In Canada we too suffered the ravages of the Leftist Green Fascists as they trotted in SARA (Species at Risk Act). In Alberta, where all levels of government are viewed by its denizens with a jaundiced eye, a great hue and cry arose from the ranks of thousands of farmers and ranchers. The case was made, in comparison to the insanity south of our borders, pursuant to SARA, for the possible prosecution and federal government ravaging of plain hardworking folk for the accidental killing of a wayward but “protected” rodent or insect.

Ralph Klein responded with this; Farmers and ranchers, should they run afoul of federal legislation and accidently snuff out the lights of one of these diminutive gods, should employ a program of S.S.S (Shoot, Shovel, Shut-up). The electorate roared its approval.

Forgive my tangent, but find within the same, the solution to our muslim problem; Shoot, Shovel, Shut-up. Don’t worry, notice will quickly be taken as the ranks of enthusiastic islamists rapidly diminish.

As for judicial process and recourse to the law for domestic or international islamists arrested on charges and returned to the United States for trial we should take direction from the Russians.

Andrei Chikatilo, the Butcher of Rostov, murdered over 52 men, women and children. He was arrested and given a fair trial. The Russian people were not made to suffer the outrageous injury of an infinite number of appeals and delays. Upon his conviction Andrei Chikatilo was quickly and cleanly executed. No appeals, no stories of his childhood trauma, no books, no movie deals, no interviews with Barbara Walters…..just lights out, period, full stop, end of story.

Here is a clip from the movie,“Citizen X”, that was made about his investigation, arrest, trial and execution. Upon his the conclusion of a fair trial and his conviction Chikatilo was taken into the bowels of the prison where he met his just and richly deserved reward…..

As for the criminalization of American Christians and veterans by the current administration you are simply bearing witness to the handiwork of a treasonous president.

Hussein Obama, in his celebration of the Muslim Brotherhood to his domestic policies that endorse and promote everything from the sexual molestation of children by the TSA to the removal of ammunition from the weapons of American troops on frontlines, can be found a seething hatred for America and Americans. Virtually every one of Obama’s official acts as President of the United States has been to put the greatest republic in the history of the world on her knees with her throat laid bare to her enemies.

Were you not listening when Obama said the islamic call to prayer was “one of the prettiest sounds on earth”. Were you not listening when Obama’s wife Michelle said of a solemn act of remembrance for victims of islamic terrorism, “all this just for a flag”.

Hussein Obama and his administration is the manifestation of the words, treason, sedition and treachery…therein lays your problem and therein lays your solution; the sooner the removal from the Whitehouse of a band of thieves and traitors, the sooner begins the effective solution to the islamic problem.

  • What actually happened is that the US attacked a convoy of terrorists. Riding with that convoy were two individuals who happened to be born in America and because collateral damage because of the attack on the convoy. They weren’t targeted, the convoy was targeted; they just happened to be in the convoy.
