Five of the NASCAR Chase drivers to be honored at the White House have scheduling conflicts and have declined Obama’s invitation: Harvick, Stewart, Busch, Biffle and Edwards have something else to do. See a Tony Stewart video below. See an important update below.
This article reminds us that this isn’t a good thing, because “the president is still the president.” Well, thanks for that. Yes, we awaken each morning to that terrible reality. This president undermines the powers of Congress and has stolen the Nation’s liberty. If some high-profile Americans choose to make that point, however subtly or loudly, they do the nation a favor.
The article intimates that not attending is unpatriotic. Once again, I don’t know the reasons why (and don’t need to know) Greg Biffle, Kurt Busch, Carl Edwards, Kevin Harvick and Tony Stewart will not stand with Obama to celebrate NASCAR, but I am grateful for it. I hope they are offended by Barack Obama, are outraged at Barack Obama, but if they simply have a photo shoot, that’s fine with me.
I don’t know who any of these men are. I don’t know a single thing about them, but I did find a video of driver Tony Stewart talking to the media. Loved it. Enjoy.
UPDATE 10:10 pm 9-2-11: A commenter left a message saying Kurt Busch has accepted the White House invitation. I have no way to verify either way.
