Chicago Trib: Obama Should Withdraw: Obama Like Midnight In Coal Mine – Can’t Sneak a Cigarette

Obama’s hometown paper, the Chicago Tribune, is calling for Obama to withdraw from the 2012 elections, and said his time as president has been like “midnight in a coal mine.” “The poor guy can’t even sneak a cigarette.”

Can't Sneak a Cigarette

Chicago Tribune, Steve Chapman (read more here):

When Ronald Reagan ran for re-election in 1984, his slogan was “Morning in America.” For Barack Obama, it’s more like midnight in a coal mine. The sputtering economy is about to stall out, unemployment is high, his jobs program may not pass, foreclosures are rampant and the poor guy can’t even sneak a cigarette.

His approval rating is at its lowest level ever. His party just lost two House elections — one in a district it had held for 88 consecutive years. He’s staked his future on the jobs bill, which most Americans don’t think would work.

The vultures are starting to circle. Former White House spokesman Bill Burton said that unless Obama can rally the Democratic base, which is disillusioned with him, “it’s going to be impossible for the president to win.” Democratic consultant James Carville had one word of advice for Obama: “Panic.”

But there is good news for the president. I checked the Constitution, and he is under no compulsion to run for re-election. He can scrap the campaign, bag the fundraising calls and never watch another Republican debate as long as he’s willing to vacate the premises by Jan. 20, 2013.

The article also talks about his overexposure and the Obama’s personal misery index, if he should win with Republicans in control of both chambers.

  • Narcissist never know when to quit. It is totally against the idea that they are perfect and everyone else is wrong about them.

Mayo clinic has this to say on the subject: Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental disorder in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance and a deep need for admiration. Those with narcissistic personality disorder believe that they’re superior to others and have little regard for other people’s feelings. But behind this mask of ultra-confidence lies a fragile self-esteem, vulnerable to the slightest criticism.

Hmmm , sums up Obama pretty well IMHO.

  • He will not quit willingly. Being forced out by a good challenger in the primaries will destroy the Democrats and they won’t do that.

His ego demands he run. Let us pray that he is soundly defeated.

  • Deep down inside he knows he’s a failure, and he probably wants to be talked out of running. How badly do Democrats want to rid of him?
