Gibson Guitar USA Shutdown for Breaking India Law

August 26, 2011

Bunkerville has another appalling story. Gibson Guitar in Nashville and Memphis has been raided by the DOJ and shutdown for supposedly violating a law in India – not the U.S. The wood from India, used in some Gibson Guitars, is finished in the U.S.

Gibson Guitar, back and sides made of Indian Rosewood

“The Federal Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. has suggested that the use of wood from India that is not finished by Indian workers is illegal, not because of U.S. law, but because it is the Justice Department’s interpretation of a law in India. (If the same wood from the same tree was finished by Indian workers, the material would be legal.) This action was taken without the support and consent of the government in India.”

Just to be clear, India isn’t asking for this action in the U.S. The Gibson Chairman and CEO says the company has complied with foreign laws, is innocent and will fight the charges.

There is a lot more at Bunkerville about the abuses of the U.S. Government and their consideration of “international opinion,” and citing Supreme Court Associate Justice Elena Kagan. Appalling…yes, that’s the word. Globalism on the march in America.

Since when do we enforce laws from foreign nations? This isn’t just going too far, it is a waste of taxpayer money.

Thanks for the getting this story out. We must get control of the Supreme court and soon. Kennedy will not side with the majority, so we are riding on thin ice for an International law case. I am sure this was Eric’s intention.

The original reports were that Gibson was guilty of some importation laws, importing protected woods. I had not heard this update that the wood would be OK if the Indians had processed it. There is no end to the stupidity of our government. It’s depressing.

Sad sad stuff. Another blatant showing of “Big Brother” moving us further towards one world order. Either some bigwig got pissed off at a musician or some crap like that and figured if the instruments aren’t here, nomusic. Or its the foreign powers wanting yet another iconic American symbol. I own and have played gibsons and epiphones for years. I plan on continuing. By the way, this story is also on sirius Roaddog Trucking radio.

First prayer, then guns and now guitars. Night Ranger would must be depressed as it seems you can no longer rock in America. This is a blatant show of government force. I’ll bet money Thomas Jefferson is rolling over in his grave. If you own one of these fine, quality guitars I suggest you hide it before Uncle Scam confiscates it. You know it’s only a matter of time before they suggest such an idea to do so.
