The Electronic Privacy Information Center requested Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) records from the TSA and Department of Homeland Security on the safety of TSA scanners. The Union at Boston Logan International has allegedly reported “cancer clusters” among TSA workers there.
Executive director Marc Rotenberg told media that documents show that the government ‘has not been forthcoming with the public about the true extent of radiation risk with the airport body scanners.’
He claimed union representatives at Boston’s Logan airport have already discovered a ‘cluster’ of cancer cases among TSA workers there.
He said the Department appears to have just ‘dismissed’ the concerns.
Seems Homeland Security has relied on the manufacturer’s word that the scanners are safe, with no hard data to back it up. The Union has asked for radiation monitoring devices for employees.
Boston Logan International Airport knows how to make the news. Ten September 11, 2001 hijackers chose Logan as their departure point. Today two flights clipped each other on the runway. A stun gun was recently found on one of the flights, and the airport has been shutdown numerous times and flights evacuated as threats were discerned. Now “cancer clusters” among TSA workers. Can you imagine what this stuff is doing to our small children.
