If you read my blog often you know I write about Planned Parenthood when there is news. Well, there is more news and it remains dire. What really struck me about this latest report is that less than 2.4% of the women going to Planned Parenthood receive non-abortion services, including adoption and pre-natal care. A few weeks ago I reported that Planned Parenthood, by their own figures, performed one abortion every 95 seconds, 365 days a year in 2009
The hue and cry from Planned Parenthood supporters was that Planned Parenthood provides many non-abortion services to many women, but clearly if less than 2.4% of their clients receive a non-abortion service, then that hue and cry was false.
Furthermore, we discovered through a series of undercover tapes and other investigations, that Planned Parenthood does not provide life-saving mammograms, but claimed they did…Planned Parenthood doesn’t do mammograms – anywhere – not in any state!
…pro-life blogger Jill Stanek did some checking and found out Planned Parenthood doesn’t do mammograms.
“The fact is not one Planned Parenthood in America performs mammograms. All Planned Parenthoods do are refer for mammograms,” she said. “So while Richards was technically correct to add the word ‘access’ before citing mammograms as a service Planned Parenthood provides, I guarantee no one understood her to say anything other than Planned Parenthood performs mammograms, when actually all Planned Parenthood does is merely write down the name of a place to go for mammograms.”
In fact, Planned Parenthood’s web site, in a fact sheet that references mammograms, tells women to “Ask your local health care provider, health department, or staff at your local Planned Parenthood center about where you can get a mammogram in your area.”
No mammograms, yet Susan G. Komen for the Cure gave $3.3 MILLION to Planned Parenthood 2004 through 2008, and $731,303 in 2009 alone. No doubt SGK thought Planned Parenthood provided free mammograms. Why else would they give away hard-to-come-by donations, intended for breast cancer research, to Planned Parenthood. I regularly give what I can to Susan G. Komen. You have probably donated to them in the past as well. Before you do again, just be aware that Planned Parenthood does nothing for women’s breast health.
If you are puzzled about PP lying about providing mammograms, just know…it’s about the money – your tax money. Mammograms are a legitimate source of philanthropic donations, but not if you don’t provide them, you shouldn’t say you do.
The new document the abortion organization posted shows Planned Parenthood provided prenatal services to merely 7,021 women and referred only 977 women for adoption services. These numbers were a 25 percent drop in prenatal care clients and a whopping 59 percent decline in adoption referrals from the 2,405 adoption referrals in 2008. The abortion business helped only 9,433 prenatal clients in 2008, down substantially from the 11,000 women it provided prenatal care to in 2007 — showing health care given to pregnant woman has fallen substantially over the years.
This from one of my previous posts: The Washington Times shows just how shadowy the organization is, April 5, 2011:
If the Government Accountability Office doesn’t know how much federal money Planned Parenthood has been given, how in the world can the taxpayers know?
If Planned Parenthood is not held accountable to 32 members of Congress requesting information from the GAO about its income and expenditure of federal funds, how can we taxpayers ever hope to know to what extent Planned Parenthood is fleecing us?
Is Planned Parenthood really going to be allowed to ingest almost $1 million of taxpayer money every day (according to its annual report) and not be held accountable for how it spends it, then justify its lack of accountability by saying the Government Accountability Office doesn’t know how much federal money the abortion giant received?
Taxpayer funding must stop. Last week I learned that 300 abortions in Washington, D.C. have been paid for by U.S. taxpayers.
“Federal funds have never supported abortion, do not support abortion, will not support abortion.”
Abortions are legal in the U.S., but friends, it is not legal to use taxpayer funds to accomplish them. We have a group of Freshman House Representatives trying to do something about Planned Parenthood. Congresswoman Renee Ellmers (R-NC) organized a press conference on July 13th, with the hope that congressional hearings would result.
“[S]ubstantial evidence … appears to show a systemic and organization-wide pattern of violating federal and state laws,” charges The Case for Investigating Planned Parenthood, the new 181-page report by Americans United for Life [AUL].
The report shows details of appalling abuse, which includes (but not limited to):
1) Failure to report criminal child sexual abuse
2) Failure to comply with parental involvement laws
3) Assisting those engaged in prostitution and/or sex trafficking
4) Misuse of the abortion drug RU-486
5) Willingness to provide women with inaccurate and misleading information
You will hear PP claim that their abortions are funded not by taxpayers, but by “other” donations. The problem is, there are plenty of reports claiming there is no legitimate bookkeeping within Planned Parenthood to prove this. If the bookkeeping is available, there isn’t a leg to stand-on for the angst these abortions cause (other than that other small matter…the death of a baby).
How anyone can argue that taxpayer funds going to Planned Parenthood aren’t used for abortions is beyond me. What a disingenuous argument. Think about the budget of a normal family. If Mom and Dad both work, does it matter whose paycheck goes to the mortgage and whose goes to the car payment and groceries? If it doesn’t come out of one pocket, it comes out of the other. If extra money comes in for one thing, it frees up money to pay for something else.
Of the funds coming into Planned Parenthood, the organization spent $1 MILLION to re-elect Democrats. Congress must get behind the defunding of Planned Parenthood, just as the State of Indiana has done.
Let’s face it. Birth Control pills are readily available, but many women and girls have multiple abortions. If you have an abortion, there’s no need for family planning.
