Remember how crass and disrespectful Democrats said Republicans were when Congressman Eric Cantor (R-VA) walked out of a Biden debt ceiling meeting? Obama repaid the disrespect, and walked out of a meeting with Republicans today. Speaker John Boehner says working with Obama is like working with Jello, and have you heard that Boehner pulling out of the “Grand Bargain,” really happened because the Prez was backing off of reviewing entitlement programs? In the meantime, Moody’s has warned that the U.S. may lose it’s AAA credit rating in coming weeks. No surprise: Obama has said he may not be able to pay Social Security, Veterans or Military when checks should go in the mail on August 3rd. If I were Moody’s I’d being “reviewing” our credit worthiness as well, with a president doing nothing to reassure the Nation when he clearly could.
The announcement by Moody’s, the first among the major rating agencies to place the United States’ AAA rating on review for a possible downgrade, came minutes after President Barack Obama and congressional leaders began negotiating for the fourth straight day of deficit talks.
Obama abruptly ended a tense budget meeting with Republican leaders by walking out of the room, a Republican aide familiar with the talks said.
The aide said the session, the fourth in a row, was the most tense of the week as House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner, the top Republican in Congress, dismissed spending cuts offered by the White House as “gimmicks and accounting tricks.”
In a meeting with a small group of reporters in his Capitol Hill office this morning, House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, criticized President Obama and White House officials for their lack of resolve in negotiations.
“Dealing with them the last couple months has been like dealing with Jell-o,” Boehner said. “Some days it’s firmer than others. Sometimes it’s like they’ve left it out over night.”
Boehner explained that talks broke down over the weekend because, he said, the president backed off entitlement reforms so much from Friday to Saturday, “It was Jell-o; it was damn near liquid.”
“By Saturday, they’d spent the previous day and a half just going backwards” on reforming entitlement programs such as Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.
Nearly 100 years of continuous AAA and it’s only taken Obama three years to put it in jeopardy.
Obama is playing Russian Roulette with our livelihoods. Let’s make sure he’s the odd man out November 2012. Can’t wait to watch as Eric Holder exits. Read more about “defaulting” here.
