The BATF (ATF) program known as Fast and Furious continues to morph into a creepy and lawless tale of guns sold by the government with taxpayer funds, to straw buyers (buyers buying weapons for someone else – gun trafficking), some of whom were convicted felons. At least 360 military-style weapons were sold to two such felons as a part of a government program. See a video report below.
…according to court records reviewed by Fox News, two of the 20 defendants indicted in the Fast and Furious investigation have felony convictions and criminal backgrounds that experts say, at the very least, should have delayed them buying a single firearm. Instead, the duo bought dozens of guns on multiple occasions while federal officials watched on closed-circuit cameras.
Congressional and law-enforcement sources say the situation suggests the FBI, which operates the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, knowingly allowed the purchases to go forward after consulting with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which initiated Operation Fast and Furious…
When asked about the breakdown, Stephen Fischer, a spokesman for the NICS System, said the FBI had no comment. However, an ATF agent who worked on the Fast and Furious investigation, told Fox News that NICS [National Criminal Background Check System] officials called the ATF in Phoenix whenever their suspects tried to buy a gun. That conversation typically led to a green light for the buyers, when it should have stopped them.
11: 25 am CDT: Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA) is on Fox this minute saying a wiretap they now have proves that someone in the Department of Justice, at a higher level than previously confirmed, is now implicated. Grassley says of the guns (2,000+) that the ATF sent illegally across the U.S.-Mexico border to drug cartels, only a few have been recovered, and the weapons will be used against innocent people for decades. Grassley is asking the person responsible in the DOJ to come forward.
If you think these dangerous characters involved in Fast and Furious are all down in the border regions, you are wrong. Bob Owens at Pajamas Media has a report that weapons purchased in the Dallas have been shipped through El Paso – and have made their way to the violent Zetas (Los Zetas Cartel) which is known for their highly trained gunmen fond of assassinations, kidnapping, drug trafficking and and all manner of terror. Check in with Si Vis Pacem for ongoing updates on Fast and Furious from all news sources.
