The Eternal Covenant

Hat tip to Chabad

In light of the upcoming vote in San Francisco to ban circumcision, I discovered this little gem.  It speaks volumes of why Jews find this law abhorrent and a slap in the face to each of us.

With every mitzvah we bind ourselves to G-d. Except brit milah.
When a Jew is circumcised, G-d binds Himself to him with an eternal covenant.

Thus is the Law of Moses, the Law of Israel.  Since Father Abraham until today, we have not broken the covenant.  When the Greeks forbade us, we went to war and won (Ever wonder why the Maccabees went to war?).  Under persecution and pogroms the covenant was kept.  During the horrors of the Holocaust and the repression of the Soviet System, the covenant was kept.  When not circumcising our sons would make it easier for them to achieve success, the covenant was kept.  And if Matthew Hess and Lloyd Schofield get their wish and ban circumcision from the city of San Francisco in the hopes of destroying the Jewish people, they will be surprised.  For we will fill the jails but NEVER DESTROY THE ETERNAL COVENANT WITH G-D!

In every generation there are those who come to destroy us.  We are still here, they have gone.

  • I like your chart but am bothered by the fact that Obama hates Israel…so when Obama tries to destroy Israel will the U.S. of A. get in the ‘X-Gone’ status column? …or will that designation go to his country of origin, Kenya!

    • I feel that it will be a rocky ride until Obama is out of office. Then depending on the new President, the nation will heal.

Obama will suffer with personal sorrows (Can you imagine what living with Michelle will be like then? ).

    • It will put an X to his Administration… and hopefully a rebirth of sanity and love of liberty that will shake all who would destroy both to their foundations and power. How’s that for a possibility? Maybe, that’s the event in 2012…

  • Ref:”…Obama will suffer with personal sorrows” – Never happen! The guy has no empathy and will never feel sorrow…the word is not even in his dictionary! Sorry involves emotion and Obama has none of that! Anger, hate, revenge, now there’s some attributes Obama can live with!

  • I’m proud to say, I’m a Mormon. Sadly, not an active one, but a Mormon none the less. In the Book of Mormon, it’s recorded that Lehi and his family were brought to this continent, a land preserved by God. This land was a gift for those who sought freedom of religion. My ancestors came in the 1600s to find the freedom they were denied in England. This countries very foundations are on that freedom. When that freedom is threatened, those who would take it away, I believe, will be smitten, with the loss of their power. Freedom is to well rooted in our heritage. That doesn’t mean it can’t be taken away. The forces of evil are patient. They keep hacking away at our freedoms, but time after time, we resist and evil fails. We need to always be vigilant. Feedom will always survive in this land. Those who would take it away, I believe, won’t, in the fullness of time.
I never talk about my Religion. I don’t appolagize for my beliefs. My love for this country, is deep. That’s why I express myself here. It’s just what I feel in my soul.
My father served proudly in World War 2. My ancestors fought in the Revolution, and the Civil War. I will not go down softly. Neither will our hard won freedoms.

Crusaders… were A) not a single nation and are not “gone” and B) Where are the mohammedans on the list? The Crusades were, in part, a multi-national effort in response to mohammed’s predations into the Holly Land and Jerusalem. Began with old mo’s slaughter of the Jews at Medina and Mecca.

Further, those “crusaders” today – even if by a Miracle – include (still) Britain and her (new) daughter America. Both had significant roles to play in the establishment and security of modern Israel, a fact for which we owe Britain and America thanks and loyalty in return and prayers and gratitude to G-d.

The “Crusaders” actions of the middle ages were a sorry mixed affair indeed, but if we fail to recognize the good of today then we have learned nothing.

As for Frisco’s modern nonsense, please show some understanding of perspective. Frisco isn’t Assyria, it’s asinine. Yeah, so the nutters want to ban circumcision. Great! So move away. When Jews vote for the Brit with their feet, San Fran will become yudenrein and it will fail to prosper. Plenty of sane jurisdictions in America (and Israel) for us. No need to go all eschatalogical here.

As for the triumphalism of the last part of the poster… “The smallest of nations but with a Friend in the highest of places” – don’t be so cocky, pal. That relationship is dependent upon our behavior – part of which is conditional upon our recognition of the Tzadikhim (the righteous) amongst our neighbors, amongst many other conditions. Some humility, please, for the Brit (covenant) goes two ways.

    Recall and keep the Shabbat.

    Shalom.
