Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’ wife, Ginny, has been hired at The Daily Caller. Mrs. Thomas has been a target for Progressives and is the first SCOTUS spouse to appear regularly in the news.
As The Daily Caller’s special correspondent, Thomas will interview key political and community leaders — from high-profile politicians to grassroots activists — with a focus on listening to those outside the Beltway.
Thomas draws on a wide range of experiences. She’s worked in the public sector, the private sector, and the non-profit sector. Before founding Liberty Central, Thomas opened Hillsdale College’s Washington office and was with The Heritage Foundation for nearly 10 years as a director of government relations and senior fellow. Prior to that, she worked for years as a high-level Congressional aide.
Virginia Thomas raised eyebrows when she founded Liberty Central in 2009 and Liberty Consulting. She has been a Tea Party activist, and as such rumors are rife that Democrat Congressman Anthony Weiner (D-NY) is attempting to have Justice Thomas impeached (which Weiner denies). Others are attempting to force him to recuse himself from certain SCOTUS cases.
You may remember Professor Anita Hill’s brutal accusations of sexual harrassment during Clarence Thomas’ SCOTUS confirmation hearings. Last October, Ginny Thomas asked Anita Hill for an apology to her husband. The big problem, in my opinion, is that Thomas asked for the apology through a voicemail, rather than in front of a microphone for in a letter. Even a tweet would have been better, but having said that, I empathize with Ginny. Hill offered no proof of her particularly incendiary “he said she said” accusations. This from Jake Tapper:
“Good morning, Anita Hill, it’s Ginni Thomas,” said the voicemail, according to ABC News, “I just wanted to reach across the airwaves and the years and ask you to consider something. I would love you to consider an apology sometime and some full explanation of why you did what you did with my husband. So give it some thought and certainly pray about this and come to understand why you did what you did. Okay have a good day.”
No surprise, Hill refused the opportunity. See Memorandum’s thread on Ginny Thomas here.
