Yesterday a banner was seen in Cairo: “USA, why do you support the tyrant and not the people?” Today, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said the administration will accept the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt’s future but they must follow the administration’s guidelines, which include rejecting violence and accepting democracy. Right.
Am I the only one disgusted with, and heartsick of being forced to deal with Islam? I ask Egyptians, who do you believe will lead you to peace and prosperity? Mohamed ElBaradei? The Muslim Brotherhood? ElBaradei is no friend of the U.S. or any free world country. We champion your bravery and your cause, but we are heartsick at your embrace of the Brotherhood and ElBaradei’s leadership. America watched as ElBaradei knowingly ushered in Iran’s nuclear program. Conservatives have no tolerance for Mohamed ElBaradei, and consider this.
The Muslim Brotherhood now has a more prominent position inside your mostly secular homeland, and we continue to ponder the fate of the people in the streets. This from Gibbs’ statement today:
The statement was an acknowledgment that any popularly accepted new government will probably include groups that are not considered friendly to U.S. interests, and was a signal that the White House is prepared for that probability after 30 years of reliable relations with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.
Monday’s statement was a “pretty clear sign that the U.S. isn’t going to advocate a narrow form of pluralism, but a broad one,” said Robert Malley, a Mideast peace negotiator in the Clinton administration. U.S. officials have previously pressed for broader participation in Egypt’s government.
“Are the peoples of the Middle East somehow beyond the reach of liberty? Are millions of men and women and children condemned by history or culture to live in despotism? Are they alone never to know freedom and never even to have a choice in the matter?”
At that time, Bush saw Islamic countries in a “global democratic revolution,” as the statue of Saddam Hussein fell, and the brutal dictator was found hiding in a fox hole a mere month after Bush’s speech. Bush’s mistake was equating the successful spread of democracy in parts of Europe with the possibility of the same in Muslim countries. The loss-and-injuries-of-thousands-of-our military later, and we know the folly of comparing the two.
There are no Muslim countries living in peace, and certainly not with prosperity, liberty or freedom as the free world knows it. Can you move to Dubai? Dubai is about the best to be offered for one wanting to live in freedom in a Muslim land. Sharia is the law there, but, oh well… Americans get it: “secular” governance in an Islamic country is an oxymoron.
Barack Obama stood in Cairo in June 2009 and told you that Egypt “represents the harmony between tradition and progress.” He told you that non-Islamic countries have “denied rights and opportunities to you.” Really? What opportunities can a free country grant to an Islamic country?
I have come here to seek a new beginning between the United States and Muslims around the world; one based upon mutual interest and mutual respect; and one based upon the truth that America and Islam are not exclusive, and need not be in competition. Instead, they overlap, and share common principles – principles of justice and progress; tolerance and the dignity of all human beings.
We see no principles of justice and progress in Islam. We see no dignity for your women or girls or even your young boys. We see no dignity for any Muslim unless he holds absolute power.
In the same speech Obama reiterated America’s commitment to allow Muslims in the U.S. the full freedom to practice their religion. We allow your Saudi-funded madrasses, and financially support some of them around the world. We allow your imams on our soil to spread their hate for America, yet Christians in Muslim lands are persecuted in the timeless, ancient manner of the Prophet Muhammed – they are beheaded and burned, stabbed to death and imprisoned.
I ask you again, who will lead you to peace? Who will lead you to prosperity bringing the norms of living your day with a home, food on your table and education for your children? I’m sick and tired of having to think about Islamic lands, because you thwart our efforts to do anything for you outside of sending our hard-earned dollars.
I have no more patience for caring about your plight, but I do care about Israel, and if you had a soul, you also would care about your fellow man. Simply tell your brothers to stop the “kill the Jews” mission, and I might start caring again, but today, I am particularly offended that you are judgmental of my decisions, and I will urge my government to ban all foreign aid to Muslim countries.
But hey, it’s a happy day in Cairo with Barack Obama publicly in bed with the Muslim Brotherhood, so stash your banners for the coming day when you beg us to rid your lives of your newest tryrant. The Conservative Lady has a very comprehensive article on the Muslim Brotherhood and links to the website showing their English version and the Arabic version – both very different. This is what Islam does – they deceive.
