Rule 5 Saturday Night: Egyptian Women

January 29, 2011
By

It’s Rule 5 Saturday Night. As Egyptians are fighting for democracy and human dignity in the streets tonight, you and I know there will never be democracy in a Muslim country. Tonight I’m remembering Egyptian women, almost all of whom are the country’s beauty pageant winners (seems to be their only outlet for a bathing suit) and the lives they endure living in a country that is 90% Sunni Muslim.

Below the photos find more about Rule 5 Posts, and how they started. See links to my friends who have Rule 5 Beauties up as well. I’ll be updating throughout tomorrow as I find more Rule 5s for you.

Rule 5 posts have to do with pretty girls or beautiful women – whichever you prefer. RS McCain at The Other McCain says I will undoubtedly get a million hits if I join Rule 5′ers, and mix it up a little bit with Rules 1, 2, 3, and 4, because only a few can handle all politics, all the time.

You see, readers, blog “traffic” is important. And since you are reading this, you are not a part of the problem. I hope you enjoy my sixth Rule 5, but if this isn’t your cup of tea, just browse through my homepage for 24 articles, some that may get your attention.

Readers, if lots of bare skin offends you, please check out the excellent political news at each of the blogs below, and cover your eyes when you hit the landing page. Just look for the home button or click on the banner.

Visit my friends for more Rule 5′s. We all post at different times over the weekend, so if the link below isn’t current, just browse the homepage. If you have a Rule 5 and I’ve missed it, let me know and I’ll link below.

Egyptians aren’t fighting for democracy. They are attempting to throw off the yoke of Mubarak’s oppressive rule, to replace it with Shariyah law and Islamic Fundamentalism. Weep for the Women of Egypt as you may never see their faces again in public. Weep for their daughters who may soon be forced into female circumcision. Weep for all of the Middle East as this plague of Islamic tyranny sweeps across the region.

    • Maggie on January 30, 2011 at 3:12 pm

Hi Jameel, thank you for your comment. I understand what you are saying and agree with you. Do you know why those in the streets would let the Muslim Brotherhood take on this fight for them – or perhaps the MB organized the whole thing, quietly behind the scenes? Wouldn’t the people know what the MB means for their country?

Egypt’s official name has the word “Republic” in it. Apparently words mean nothing. A democracy, as understood by most people, is not the reality of what most people want.

On the day Mubarak asked his Cabinet to resign, the news reported several times that the protesters said they did not want the government to go, they only wanted Mubarak to go. Haven’t heard another word about that.

I have supported Muslim women for years now. Their plight seems impossibly hopeless. Thanks for your comment.

Haifa Wehbe is Lebanese but the motif still applies:Hizbllah & Al-Ikhwan are interchangeable.

Eric, thanks for this. I had a lot of trouble sorting out the Egyptian women from others from the area. Often they were identified as Egyptian and were not. Sometimes the same photo would be tagged with different nationalities. I tried to verify, but see that I missed this one. Thank you!
