Rule 5 posts have to do with pretty girls or beautiful women – whichever you prefer. RS McCain at The Other McCain says I will undoubtedly get a million hits if I join Rule 5′ers, and mix it up a little bit with Rules 1, 2, 3, and 4, because only a few can handle all politics, all the time.
This is how Stacy McCain explains mixing “loveliness” with politics:
Everybody loves a pretty girl – It’s not just guys who enjoy staring at pictures of hotties. If you’ve ever picked up Cosmo or Glamour, you realize that chicks enjoy looking at pretty girls, too. Maybe it’s the vicious catty she-thinks-she’s-all-that factor, or the schadenfreude of watching a human trainwreck like Britney Spears, but no one can argue that celebrity babes generate traffic.
You see, readers, blog “traffic” is important. And since you are reading this, you are not a part of the problem. I hope you enjoy my fourth Rule 5, and if this isn’t your cup of tea, just browse through my homepage for 24 articles, some that may get your attention.
Having said that, this is my first Rule 5 posting in awhile. I ran out of conservative women to feature. It’s a real problem, only if I let it be one, which I do. So my disclaimer: I can’t guarantee Kellie Pickler is conservative, but I think she is. She loves the USO. She recently eloped to a Caribbean Island and said she and her now-hubby wanted the day to be for only them, with their minister and God. Sounds conservative to me…except she is a PETA fan, and has given up eating meat, because…of that Pamela Anderson thingey about cruelty to animals. (A reminder that she is very young – just 24).

Kellie grew up in a trailer park, raised by her grandparents in North Carolina after her mother abandoned her, and her drug-addicted, alcoholic father spent his life in and out of jails. Pickler was a waitress on roller skates at a Sonic Drive-In the year she auditioned for American Idol.
Kellie was eliminated from American Idol competition the night she she hoped to be in the Top Idol 6 for the 2006 season. One week later she had signed a record contract and her first alum went Gold in early 2007.
Most surprising to me is that Pickler says she really doesn’t like “people.” She likes being alone with her pets to keep her company. When you watch her on television, she is bright, and bubbly with a a deep southern drawl and always has a few funny stories, with herself often the punch line.
In Pickler’s short musical career she has won the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers award for ‘Songwriter,’ co-writing with Taylor Swift, “Best Days of Your Life,” and co-writing her hit song, Red High Heels with three others. She won the CMA Performance of the Year singing “I Wonder,” (see the video below)
Kellie Pickler married songwriter Kyle Jacobs on New Year’s Day 2011. See a video of her singing ‘Santa Baby’ (I know, off-top, off-season, but think the song is fun and she does it justice).

The best quality rule 5s are always at Maggie’s. Great job.
In Pickler’s defense, why would she like people. Reactions like that are internalized as a baby/toddler. She was treated badly during those formative years. The rejection she experienced will always sit in her heart, sadly.
Hugs and love to her and all the babies who didn’t get the parenting that every child is entitled to.

Opus, thanks for that sweet comment! I agree with every word you said about Kellie and the way she was brought up. Something I did not put in the article is that she struggles with depression. She said she did not like medications, and went off of them. Perhaps now her life with hubby will be what she needs to put that saddness behind her.
I remember after Idol, there was picture of her holding a pic of her Dad. He got out of prison and within a year (I think) he had stabbed his girlfriend, and is back in prison.
