This simple little video explains what Christmas is, for all those confused about how Christianity came to be. I believe this beautiful segment of a Charlie Brown Christmas aired in 1965. Can you imagine a cartoon like this one making it on a television screen today?
In the video, “a little child,” Linus, leads us, and speaks of the Babe in the Manger, the “little child,” The Son of God incarnate, The Word Made Flesh, Christ the Lord. “And a little child shall lead” us.
And the wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. ~ Isaiah 11:6
Linus VanPelt on the Meaning of Christmas
“And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, ‘Fear not: for behold, I bring unto you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.’ And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” ~ Luke 2:8-20
