Matteo Giovanditto Murdered in Celebration FL: First Ever Homicide in Disney’s Celebration

The town of Celebration, Florida has never had a homicide in its 14-year history, until now. Celebration is Disney’s master-planned, “picture-perfect” community not far from Orlando’s Disney World. Matteo Giovanditto was murdered in his condo over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Neighbors missed seeing Mr. Giovanditto, 58, filed a missing person report, then went to his condo the next day and found him dead.

Residents of the town five miles south of Walt Disney World woke up Tuesday to the sight of yellow crime-scene tape wrapped around a condo near the Christmas-decorated downtown, where Bing Crosby croons from speakers hidden in the foliage.

Giovanditto’s black 2008 Corvette was missing but was found through the tipline  at a Kissimmee apartment building. Unconfirmed reports say Giovanditto is a former teacher, and moved to Florida from Massachusetts in 2004.

  • He looks like a thug, I don’t know how many teachers get whacked either

  • RR, there was little personal information about him. A neighbor was supposed to be walking his dog but when he called the dog, it didn’t appear. Perhaps there was a connection that brought his death.
