Los Angeles Islamophobia? 88% of LA Hate Crimes Against Jews

Via email, I received a copy of the new Los Angeles “resolution” “repudiating” “Islamophobia” in the city. See “Resolution” text at the end of the article. As I was searching for opinions on what the Resolution will do for Muslims in Los Angeles, I found  the following opinion piece (excluding cartoon) which says 88% of hate crimes in the city were against Jews. 88%. Only 3% of  “hate crimes” were against Muslims. The question is: what exactly will this resolution do for Muslims? Surely it will do something. Perhaps enable charges against those speaking out against Islam? Is this resolution set to regulate free speech, instead calling it blasphemy?

Muslim Violence Against Jews

WITHOUT serious debate or examination, the Los Angeles City Council recently passed a resolution that opposes “Islamophobia” and “repudiates” random acts of violence against Muslims.

This admittedly ceremonial resolution apparently accepts the premise that residents of the city commit acts of hate against Muslims so often that it warrants an official resolution from city leaders condemning and repudiating these acts. Is this really the case?

According to the latest hate crime report from the Los Angeles County Commission on Human Relations, 88 percent of all religiously based hate crimes in 2009 were against Jews. Hate crimes that targeted Muslims (3 percent) ranked slightly above those directed at Scientologists (1 percent). In fact, the commission found that attacks against Christians (8 percent) outnumbered attacks against Muslims….

Since only 3 percent of 131 hate crimes during 2009 was directed against Muslims, it’s difficult to understand why city leaders would pass a resolution that zeroes in on the category that has the next-to-lowest numbers recorded by the County’s Human Relations Commission.

It appears that the City Council simply took information provided by an advocacy group, one that’s hardly unbiased, and uncritically spat out a resolution opposing “Islamophobia” and “random acts of violence against Muslim-Americans.”

This begs the question: Except for some Islam-hating cretins with sub-zero levels of intelligence, exactly who is in favor of random acts of violence against Muslims? For more of this excellent and logical opinion piece, visit  Daily News Los Angeles:

In this day and time, 88 percent of LA’s hate crimes are against Jews. I find this heartbreaking and shocking.

Hat Tip to JihadWatch

  • This is absurd! If anything, their needs to be a resolution condemning violence and discrimination against Jews. This bending over backwards for Muslims must stop!

  • A cross word in the wrong place about Islam and get ready for the ACLU types, Jewish? Uh, not so much.

  • Feelgood liberal twaddle, with heaps of ignorance on top.

  • Los Angeles — member in good standing of the Land of Fruits and Nuts.
